Sycamore Lake Dam

"` I was thrilled to explore the hidden gem of Sycamore Lake Dam, a secluded spot for fishing and camping. I heard about it from a friend who stumbled upon it by chance. He said it was not marked on any map, and I had to follow a faint trail from Sycamore Trail to get there. I was up for the challenge, so I packed my fishing gear and set off. However, I soon realized that finding the trail was harder than I expected. I had no signal on my phone, and the trail was barely visible among the trees. I wandered around for a while, hoping to catch a glimpse of the lake, but I had no luck. I wished I had paid more attention to my friend's directions, or brought a compass with me. The dam was a secret treasure, but also a well-guarded one. It seemed like only a few people knew about it, and they wanted to keep it that way. I wondered how many other places like this existed in North Carolina, or in other states. Places that were not officially recognized as attractions, but had their own charm and beauty. Places that were waiting to be discovered by adventurous souls like me."

"The Sycamore trail is marked by a blue triangle from the parking lot. This dam is just off the marked Sycamore trail. It is just 150 yards post the point where the sycamore trail splits into a loop trail. You will descend from this loop point and come to a flat stretch where you would see a small stream of water flowing next to you. Walk towards the source of the stream to reach the dam. It's a quiet and peaceful place but not very accessible."
