Reviews of Kings Highway Park
"Great “get-away” spot on the Eno River for kayaking or canoeing. If your timing is right, you might see Amtrack or a freight train pass overhead. About a 100 yd. walk from the parking lot to the kayak launch. Two river options upstream."
"Nice walk although the trails aren't well marked at all."
"FYI this is not a park with playground equipment or for sports. It is just a few quiet trails along the river. It covers a few acres. Great for a quick walk and a picnic."
"A few short trails, some great fishing, a wonderful old bridge and the old carriage road to Salisbury. Parking is p5retty limited, but the good news is not many people visit, so its never a problem. trails are easy and well maintained. Head to the North side of Ben Johnson rd and you'll find the better trails and a bench nicely situated for watching the water and the wonderful old deck truss railroad bridge thats over 150 years old - watch it rumble as modern Amtrack and freight trails roll overhead!"
"There is a little trail system that will hopefully one day be maintained a bit better than it currently is. Without question the highlight of this park is the access to the small reservoir on the Eno. Which as far as quaint little paddling spots go, should get a 4/5 star rating. The walk with a canoe or kayak from the parking area to the water is a bit long (couple hundred yards?) but it's on a well maintained gravel road, so boat carts are helpful. Access to get the boats in to the water is easy with a nice relatively low angle grade. Paddling here is quite nice."
