"Such an amazing park with tons of amenities for the entire family. Plenty of fields and open space, but also a full featured park wit play areas for kids and teens of all ages. Ample spaces and tables to “camp out” at while the kids are playing. Nice restroom facilities and plenty of vending machines if you didn’t pack drinks ahead of time."
"Been wanting to go here since it opened. The big slide is pretty impressive. Kids have to climb a bit to get into it, so it’s cool when they get to enter the slide at the top. There’s also a few smaller playgrounds and a nature area. Lots of playing fields too. We went during winter, and though it was sunny, that wind chill will get ya! There’s also a splash pad, which I think will be popping during the summer."
"Great park for when you have older kids but I would say is hard to keep up with younger kids if you have more than one. The playground is large and great for kids of all ages. I did not see bathrooms near the playground which would make it a little hard when kids have to go. Great parking spaces."
"Now this is what I call a (amusement) park!!! Is so nice, clean, open, and amazing. It's a must place to go. It has plenty of parking, a big soccer field, tennis court and a play ground. The playground itself has a tall jungle gym like slide that seems to be the main attraction. But it has other sections like swings of different varieties. There's a smaller park for smaller kids that has a four person seesaw, a manual merry-go-round, and a jungle gym with a slide. There's a bridge that leads you to a "sticks and stone" play area for kids that's by a shelter and a nice open field. This is by far the best park I've taken my kids to. Durham needs one of these ASAP!"
"What a great addition to Apex's Parks & Rec offerings! I'm amazed by the sheer volume of different types of play available to kids - small slides and a huge slide, a 4-person seesaw, a half dozen different types of swings, jungle gyms, a pirate ship, a "natural play" area... the choices at Pleasant Park are never-ending. I think it will be fine to bring leashed, friendly dogs once things calm down. Right now it's too crowded to add a dog to the chaos. A few others have left negative reviews and, to their credit, it's not perfect. Yes it's crowded- it's an amazing new park that's on par with any pay for admission park, and the weather has been perfect. Come back in January when it's dreary out or give it a few months, it'll calm down. Or come at night- the park has lights! By 7pm it was a lot less crowded than it was earlier. Several people have mentioned the lack of shade, which is a valid point, but there are lots of trees planted that will help with that in a few years. It would be great to have some shade over the tables in the play space, and I'm hoping that come spring/summer that will be added. But most parks are fairly open without a ton of shade, especially when the trees haven't had time to grow, so it seems unfair to fault this one. No, it's not perfect, but it's pretty amazing and it's not a static space. Things will be changed and updated constantly, so I think it will just keep getting better."
