Reviews of Martinho's Bakery & Deli
"Chicken Philly cheese steak was awesome. The 6" was more than enough and a large order of fries was enough for 3 people. The desserts are amazing, had to take that home to eat. Great place and can't wait to try other menu items."
"Waited almost an hour and a half just on food. Multiple people came after us and were served before us and we were almost completely ignored by the staff. We got our food when the store was technically closed already and they still wanted to charge us for a refill. I understand they have policies but the employees were legit closing the restaurant already. Was family favorite restaurant of mine but never had these problems before, unacceptable."
"I went to Martinho's at 3:10 PM January 2. I was greeted promptly by a friendly hostes. I was told to sit anywhere and that someone would take my order soon. The place was not busy. There were 4 booths and one table with a few people at each, who already had been served. I had expected more diners on this opening day under new management. I had intended to dine in and order an appetizer, sandwich, drink and considered ordering a dessert. After sitting at a table, I got up and ordered a sandwich and drink at the register. My receipt shows that I placed my order at 3:25. While I sat waiting, I could see the hostes and two young women hanging out at the register and talking. The hostess offered the excuse that she and the other staff were not quite familiar with the technology of the register. I think that at least asking what I wanted to drink and then bringing that to me would have been too distracting to the staff. I ordered a Reuben and Iced Tea to go. I tipped 15 %, even though I was tempted to not tip at all. The Reuben contained a lot of meat, but the meat was dry. There was a small amount of dressing and sauerkraut on the sandwich. The rye bread was cooked well, but it lacked flavor. I hope service improves as time goes on."
"I don’t eat out much, but when I do, I want good quality food. I’ve been going to Martino’s for two decades now, and I’ve watched it change from a small family run place in a small community to a more busy family run place in that same, albeit slightly larger, community. The food is exceptionally good. You can’t go wrong with Boar’s Head meat and homemade desserts. Everything about the place feels like someone transplanted a quality deli from up north to an extremely southern small town, and somehow they have perfectly merged. Whenever we have guests in from out of town, I make it a priority to get them up to Martino’s if possible. People are universally impressed, and they always ask to go back. If we show up at peak time, the line is out the door, and I’m fine with that. It’s good enough to wait for. The only negative is that it’s a family business, and they are closed at some times when I wish they were open. I don’t know why people think they should be able to ever see their families or sleep. What are they thinking? I might need an emergency roast beef sandwich with garlic knots on the side!"
"It is good to have friends that recommend places you might not have ever visited. Great restaurant and an excellent value. Definitely seems to be a favorite with the community. We saw a steady stream of people coming in and out during our visit. Another place we will be back to visit. I really just want another place to try sometimes. Glad we got a recommendation to go here. There are some Bakery items that look awesome. We tried the Italian Cream Cake for desert. It was delicious! My wife had a Stromboli and I had a meatball sub. We loved our meal! All was under $20.00. The staff were happy here. That always make your visit better. We really try and support local businesses."
