Reviews of Waccamaw River Park
"Who ever thought an intergraded age park was a good idea has lost their mine. To think a two year old would not want to play on five year old equipment is insane. Gates that do not latch. Kids playing football and soccer inside the playground area shows disregard for others and parents not paying attention or caring. Restrooms without changing table or even any space to change a diaper."
"We had a nice walk exploring the Waccamaw River Park. The main loop was nice, lots to see, though sometimes hard to know if you are on the trail. Would like to see more trail markings put up. During mild winter days this is an excellent park to walk, no bugs, no flooding, just a quiet nature walk. I will be trying the short mountain bike loop in the coming months. Convenient location, easy to find, plenty of parking. Thank you"
"This 237 acre park provides a natural habitat associated with the Waccamaw River, including emergent wetlands, bottomland hardwoods, mixed pine, variety of birds and wildlife. One will find in amenities hiking trails, picnic shelter, picnic tables, portable pottys, mountain bike trail and disk golf course. Park is known for flooding and one is certain to find trails muddy and at times park closed. A good pair of waterproof hiking boots is a good suggestion, along with plenty of mosquito repellent. The major of the park is wetlands with a short 1,610 foot trail leading straight back and a looping trail of 6,140 feet. Because of the conditions of the main trail, no trail markings and the onslaught of mosquitoes we skipped the looping trail. Within a hour we had pretty much seen what the park had to offer and headed for home. Even the disk golf course seemed lacking in its marked layout and garnished no attention today."
"What a nice river walk. It is just about a mile walk. Plenty of rest stops with benches and swings. Even a gazebo with rocking chairs. Great place to stroll, bird watch, people watch, and boat watch. Several restaurants right on the river."
