Dayton House Resort

"Great location, loved our room. We did initially get a room with water damage but the front desk immediately assisted us in moving us to the same type of suite (there had been a heavy rain storm the night before and I suspect this caused a leak). Our new room was really nice and I loved the ocean view. Nice beds, kitchen appliances, and bathroom. I appreciated the daily towel service from housekeeping. The pools would be great in the spring/summer but there weren’t as many options indoors as I expected - I thought the lazy river would be heated but it was frigid. They also need paths between the various pools at each building, it’s hard to get to them due to trees and bushes. I would come back but maybe not in December/January for the best experience."

"On checking in we were given a room that was dirty and the headboard was busted off the fold up bed. They moved us to a 2nd room that had the handle broken off of the microwave and sat on the stove. We did decide that since everything else looked good we would deal with the handle but let property management know. They were willing to have us change rooms again but after the drive we didn't want to. That night we discovered they had plumbing issues. You had to hold the handle down on the toilet the whole time it was trying to flush. The next night we started seeing ants in the room. So again I went and complained. They gave me a very hard time saying they could get someone to spray but it was to late to get a refund. We went back and forth and finally a half nights pay was refunded. ADDENDUM-***And receipt of transaction was printed. The refund was withdrawn before it posted to our account. The hotel is claiming our bank is holding the refund but our bank has no record of it. This hotel has proven to be extremely shady! *** This hotel needs major remodeling. All furniture, sheets, and towels have to be from the 90's. Property management took no ownership of their part in the situation. They actually said, "We have no control over these things, but we are handling it now that we do know." This says they do not check the rooms out and do a spot cleaning at best. The only saving grace was the view from the room and the breakfast and breakfast staff!"

"Upon arrival the check in process was the worst I’ve ever experienced. There is not enough employees to handle the amount of visitors checking in. The entire lobby was filled to an uncomfortable and tight capacity. Each check in took super long making the line never get shorter. The room however was very clean, smelled good, and was modern. We had no issues with the room! The property itself was very inconvenient and seemed dated on outer appearance. There was no pool that you won’t be frozen in during the winter. There is an indoor pool but the doors are kept open and multiple doors around the building seem to be completely taken off. Causing you to be super cold while wet if you are getting out of any indoor amenities. The indoor pool smelled horrible of sulfur when we arrived. The front desk then rudely made us wait in the entire check in line just to get our pool towels. A towel rack is typically standard at resorts. Beach access was nice and has lots of tables and chairs to lounge in. Parking for the hotel was very bad and there are no reserved check in/unloading spots by the lobby. Just first come, maybe 8 spots. Overall 6/10, customer service was lacking, people come for southern hospitality not rude attitude. probably wouldn’t recommend or come back unless some things get better."

"I loved my stay here. We had a 2 bed ocean view room with balcony. It had a kitchenette and was fully stocked with everything needed. Beds were comfortable, bath and shower were good sized, the room was clean . I found the amenities at Dayton House resort to be fantastic - we were there mid-September and it was busy, but not overly so. We parked in the covered lot one block over from the main reception - never had issues getting a space there and the bonus was that parking in the shade helped keep the car cooler. The bar and entertainment was fun - a great party atmosphere but not stopping anyone from relaxing (or sleeping!) We ate breakfast only one day of our stay. I loved it. We had fruit, yoghurt, eggs, grits, potatoes and french toast. They also had waffles and sausage available, as well as plenty of drinks! I imagine it gets busy for breakfast, but we were there early. Service was great and staff were quick to clear up between guests. We would definitely stay here again if ever back in Myrtle Beach."

"The location is excellent, close to the strip but quiet and remote enough as well. The hotel has several buildings and you can use the pools at each. The bar food was good, and the workers are constantly maintaining the property. The breakfast was decent, The staff was so friendly and worked hard to keep the Rose Room clean. The rooms were fine, we stayed in a suite and it was perfect for our family of 5. The room could have been cleaner, but it didn't impact our enjoyment of the trip. I would definitely revisit here. Thank you for the beautiful trip, we miss the Dayton House already!"
