Abingdon Manor Inn & Restaurant

"A great respite from the awful chain hotels off rt 95. About 10 minutes (6-7 miles) from the highway,but well worth it. The house itself is beautiful with a steep history to the early 1900's. We stayed in The Red Room, which was spacious with a private bath & great shower. We stayed here 1 night on our southbound commute to our Florida home, thus got up early to head out. For those folks looking to sleep in, the nearby early am freight train may hinder that. Parking was right outside the house which seemed very safe. The food is also a standout in an area that is again, 99.9% dismal chain food. Lastly, but not least, the proprietor is gracious & welcoming"

"Well it seemed like something out of a story book. We had the Inn to ourselves since no other guests. I felt like a princess without my prince. I came for an event with my girlfriend in the area. Pat gave us total access to property and educated us on the rich history. I was so amazed at the original pieces and how well preserved. The bed was comfy and food was amazing. I've already made reservations to come back with my husband. Our new hidden gem in Latta South Carolina."

"My wife and I visited Abingdon Manor for our evening meal with reservations. We had stayed here for a weekend several years ago and were staying nearby for a family wedding. We joined another couple staying overnight as the only guests for dinner. Both that couple and my wife had been advised in advance that there would be a choice between two entrees at dinner, though no choice was offered. The appetizer was tasty and the salad was well prepared. The entree however did not measure up to a meal that is worthy of what is represented in anticipation, or price, as fine dining. The entrees as a whole, beef, potatoes and beans, arrived cold, which made the meal quite unappealing for the most part. The beef was not a premium cut which was an additional disappointment. Each of us left a substantial portion of our $70 meal unmolested on the plate. We were disappointed to say the least."

"Nice property but the owners were cold, unfriendly, stingy and made us feel barely tolerated. Food terrible and requests for another roll declined! Salmon dry and tasteless and vegetable and rice barely acceptable. Obviously they just didn’t care. Despite telling owners we don’t eat eggs only breakfast item was quiche. No cold cereal, toast, yogurt, etc. after almost begging we got a tiny “crescent” roll. Price of $84.00 for the dinner was outrageous! They should visit a Hampton Inn. Host made no effort to interact with us and checkout was without any offer to help with our luggage. We have stayed all over the world in motels, B&Bs, hotels, cabins, ships, etc. but this was the worst. Made to feel as if we were barely tolerated. Never again!"

"Quite simply our favorite B&B after our first stay. We stayed in the Master suite which was spacious and comfortable with both a tub and shower. The extra window air conditioner was used as well. Breakfast was delicious each day with multiple juice choices, fresh, ripe fruit, coffee and something hot, freshly prepared by someone who knows what they are doing. The best, however, was the six course dinner. Some portions were smaller, but at 6'3" I still left reasonably full. Wine selections were remarkably complete for a small venue and I liked what was selected for me. Add in friendly owners and staff and you really can't do better."
