Reviews of Roux
"This is a nice restaurant to come to for date night, fancy dinners, celebrations, etc. We recommend reservations as it is a small restaurant space wise. It was packed when we got there. You have to expect to be seated close to other tables due to the spacing issue. I didn't order absinthe but my friends did and they really liked it. I ordered a Chardonnay and I was very happy with that. For the food, we went with the French onion soup, the Potted Chicken and Foie mousse for the table, the Chicken cutlet, and the Duck confit. The French Onion soup was delicious and a LOT! It was the perfect blend of onion, tart, salt, cheese and the goodness of a good onion soup. The potted chicken and foie mousse was very interesting and the baguette with it was delicious! I didn't end up finishing the chicken cutlet because of how heavy the soup was but I liked what I had - flat, fried and had a delicious remoulade on the side. My brother enjoyed his duck confit but felt it was a little small. He also finished my chicken cutlet. We didn't end up getting dessert but the cheesecake looked interesting. It is a pricey place so I recommend it for special occasions only. There is a parking lot about 2 blocks away. They do not validate parking."
"Went there for the first time last Sunday. Trying to find parking was awful, but not the restaurant's fault. The atmosphere was nice, pretty inside - felt cozy. The bathroom however is way too small, I'm 5'8" and had to sit on the toilet sideways. No room! The cocktails were good, our server was lovely, but the food was NOT worth ever going back for. My burger tasted like a "cow," no flavor but a strong meat taste that was not good. I barely ate it! None of my friends enjoyed their meals either, the gnocchi was absolutely tasteless. No bread for the table. The food choices were not desirable either. They also never took off the deposit we paid to make the reservation. All in all, cute restaurant but will not be coming back."
"What a lovely brunch! We had a cocktail and a specialty coffee drink, both of which were perfect. We had the Camambert as an appetizer. I’d expected plain melted Camambert with some accoutrements, but the Camambert was soft with an amazing jellied fig spread with an excellent balance of fresh herbs that cut perfectly through the sweetness. For the main course we had the croque madam and the Waffle Sammy. Once again the flavors were perfectly balanced, with just the right amount of richness, acid, and flavor. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The seating was a bit tight, yet it felt more cozy than constricting. The servers were very attentive and kind. Can’t wait to come back for dinner!"
"Great food and great experience! Service was awesome, the ambiance was on-point and the food/cocktails matched. Although unexpected, the burgers were some of the best in the area. Steak, chicken, and desserts were amazing. Highly recommend for a great experience, and subtle French vibe."
"“Simple” food done really well, but not worth putting up with the poor service (curt and neglectful). The onion soup was among the best I’ve tried. The vegetables are treated with respect, lifted up to be the stars instead of being relegated to a side dish."
