"Good place to kayak but this is a small reservoir and sometimes has a lot of current. On the other hand when the water levels are down the Great Falls of Catawba will run dry (not the entire reservoir itself, just the "falls") which makes for a great place to beach the kayaks and go for a hike or take your lunch break. Make sure to bring your camera and a good pair of water shoes. Also you might want to consider bringing that fishing rod along for the trip. Although this is a small reservoir there's plenty of 20+lb Blue catfish to do battle with!"
