Reviews of Whiteside Mtn Trail
"Excellent trail with amazing views. If you want a little more adventure and a path less traveled, walk the trail counter clockwise and hop on the side-trail behind the sign about the continental divide. It's a little tougher trek, and a little longer, but really cool hiking. It will put you out in the same parking lot that you started in."
"Beautiful. We took the easier ascent to the continental divide and the highest point, then descended on the more challenging route with the many stairs. The weather was perfect. Cool and breezy."
"Nice looping trail to the top of Whiteside Mountain from the parking lot. Broad road trail from parking lot to near the summit if you bear left going up, but if you take a right up the stone stairs by the big boulders in the road, you can get a good workout! Nice view from the summit and some interesting placards with history and other information posted at the top. Lots of families on the trail on this holiday weekend. Parking is $3 - there is a credit card machine near the outhouse or you can use the QR code posted to pay."
"The prettiest trail I’ve done in NC so far. If you follow the small unmarked trails off of the main trail there are some amazing views. The trail is only around 2 miles but we ended up walking 4.7 miles all told."
"Beautiful alpine ecosystem with incredible views. There are plenty of nooks to explore on the way up if you decide to take the non-gravel approach. It’s a 1.94 mile loop, and though steep, very accessible from the other side for different kinds of hikers. So worth the trip!"
