Reviews of Licklog Falls and Pigpen Falls
"This is a great hike with lots to see and access to the big Chattooga river. Moderate only due to the uphill return. You can also make it very hard by taking the right fork just above the river. (I hear this is the best view of lick log falls). I haven't done the steep climb down or up. Good parking, no facilities, good for dogs, and nice spots for primitive camping. Nicholson Ford road does have two small fords. They are very sound and shallow. They add to the fun."
"After having not been here in about 15 years, I returned with my daughter (8 years old) and friend. The hike down to Pigpen Falls is very easy. The old trail that goes down to the point where Licklog Falls empties into the Chattooga River is still there, but wasn't in the same condition it used to be, but is still passable. Along the main trail, there are a couple of places to see Licklog Falls. The highlight of our trip was the abundance of red efts (the terrestrial phase of the red-spotted newt). On the way up from the river, we passed through an area where we found at least 10 on the trail in about a 20m distance. Along the sides of the trail, there were several more under the ferns. It made for a pleasant morning walk."
"Nice easy trail First waterfall Pigpen has a nice swimming area Second waterfall has a vertical descent and Acesnt that a man of my age did not attempt It can be seen from trail but summer is hard for a great view through the trees"
"Its a short .09 mile hike to see two small waterfalls. Google Maps will take you across the creek to a fork in the road & stops. Keep going & avoid both Private Drives until you get to the small parking lot. From there follow the signs. On the trail there will be another fork (stay left) & that will take you to Pig Pen Falls. From there you go over the bridge & around the corner to a smaller trail on the right going down. That small trail will take you to Lick Log Falls & Chattooga River."
"The trail is easy and well marked. You can see pigpen falls really well. Licklog is a different story you can only see if from the side. I had to use drone to get a better shot. Trail is nice and you see the Chattanooga river which licklog flows into"
