Reviews of J. Verne Smith Park (Lake Robinson)
"This park sits on the most beautiful lake in the entire world. In order to go kayaking you need to stop by the guard shack and pay $5 for a boating permit that's good for a year. Fishing licenses can be obtained as well. Cole's bait shop is right around the corner on Gross meadow. Kayaks canoes can be rented there. Excellent park to hang out and have a picnic. Beautiful mountain views behind Crystal clear Lake Robinson"
"Such a beautiful lake but no swimming is allowed! I like to come to the park just to hang out and enjoy picturesque and serene Lake Robinson with mountains in the back. Wonderful place for watching sunsets. You can bring your own kayak or rent one across the street. There are plenty of picnic tables and a picnic shelter that can be rented for parties. I see a lot of people fishing of the fishing dock. Always plenty of parking available. I wish there were more trails for walking around."
"A little known gem just outside of Greenville! Absolutely gorgeous lake with plenty of amenities! Been coming here for decades and it never disappoints!"
"Beautiful boating lake! Things to know: no public beaches but you can swim in the open water (200ft from land). There’s excellent fishing and the bass were jumping like dolphins. They do require boating permits for larger craft (10hp limit). We bought the year permit for our sail boat (30$) and the lake was nice for sailing with open stretches and zero power lines to contest with. Special thanks to Warden Matt who made us feel very welcome! We’ll be back soon"
"Pretty lake with lots of boating and fishing access. No swimming, and not much flat grass area. Several shaded picnic areas and reservable picnic tables and grills. However, I wouldn’t recommend it for walking as there’s not much for trails. Its more of a stop and relax type of spot."
