Reviews of Kanuga Inn & Lodging
"We recently shot our first wedding at this beautiful location this past October and the experience was awesome! The property was plentiful with gorgeous shooting locations for our couple and reception space was so unique being right on the water with their views. We definitely can't wait to visit again!"
"Pros: The grounds were beautiful. Cons: The ac unit made noises for most of the night. The bed was so firm, I woke up with back pain. Even though it is located in a wooded area, there was some safety concerns. The front door was unlocked and anyone could walk in. Anyone could walk right over to the bedrooms. When I first walked into the room, the sliding door was unlocked so was the screen, with the room sharing a balcony, anyone could walk into the room. I was shocked that the room door did not have any deadlock or a lock on the door knob. I know that hotel employees have access to all the rooms, with extra protection on the doors anyone could walk in to any room. Because of this reason, I will not be back. My families safety concerns comes first."
"Overall, it was nice. I might come back, maybe. Pros: the property is beautiful, we'll-maintained, easy to walk around. The rooms are nice and they're clean. The staff was mostly friendly. There's no TV, and when I first arrived I thought this was a con for sure. But they have a community room filled with books (old and donated, I'm sure) and games (the Yahtzee box looked to be from the 70s, but the vintange/nostalgia of it was kind of cool). My son and I put together a puzzle (on a beautiful, old table that was not flat and not conducive to puzzles) and then we played chess. We actually had to talk to each and play together and it was fun. Cons: the "balcony" was a concrete slab facing the parking lot on the bottom floor - with a worn path from the slab to the lot. I paid a little extra for a balcony room than a regular room, so this was very disappointing. The rooms have worn/chipping paint on the ceiling and around the AC. The shower has almost zero pressure, but it's nice and warm. The floor gets pretty wet because it's a 2ish inch lip into the roomy shower with just a curtain grazing the lip. The bed wasn't good. The mattress was hard and the pillows were thin and lumpy. The dinner buffet sounded delicious, but at $25/pp for a taco buffet, I wasn't feeding my kid for that. If there was a children's menu, I wasn't informed of it when I inquired about dinner."
"My husband and I got married at Kanuga this year. We had a good experience the whole time preparing for the wedding. Both Paula and Kelly were very responsive with my many questions to iron out details. The location was beautiful and everything was set up just as we needed on the day of the wedding. The food was fantastic! No complaints there. The night we stayed at the inn was very comfortable. We didn't care that there were no TVs but a clock would've been nice."
"Beautiful place overall and friendly staff, but as many have said already, there's work to be done here as far as the rooms in the Inn itself. The walls and doors are paper thin. We were on the first floor and could hear every single footstep above us in both the room directly above and the one before it, even though they weren't being loud. The lady next door to us was having a conversation on her phone in a normal voice, and it sounded pretty much like she was in the room with us. Late at night, people don't care about slamming doors, and you can hear doors slam on the complete opposite end of the floor you're on. If you're a light sleeper, or even a medium sleeper, you're gonna be woke up if you're there with night owls. The AC units are a whole other story. We had to switch rooms at 2am our final night because the AC started making loud noises. The room we were moved to was better, but the AC in there was also making strange and random noises... Just thankfully not as loud. Perhaps the cottages are better overall. We loved the location and about everything else. Breakfast was good, on par with most that I've seen and with plenty of room so you're not crowded."
