"A great hike through a lush cove hardwood forest in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. If you go at the right time you'll spot lots of wildlife. We've spotted turkey, white-tail deer, elk, black bear. Also, the trailhead is in the Cataloochee Valley which offers access to a few of the preserved structures that remain from the town that was a thriving apple center until the formation of the Park."

"No idea what we did. Left from a small parking area where 3 trails diverge. Didn't see anything but woods...no signage, no progress markers, no house. Easy going, but narrow path. Turned around after 2.75 miles, so 5.5 miles of trees. No other people."

"A nice easy hike. The Woody House is 1 mile up the trail and backcountry campsite #40 is 1.5 miles up the trail, just past a small creek crossing."

"This is a nice easy to moderate trail. Pretty well maintained. Depending on the time you go you may see elk, turkeys & other smaller wildlife. There were some downed trees but they were pulled off trail. You could see water had been high late winter & was flowing well. Loved the quietness & listening to all the birds. You won't see a lot people."
