"Great hike! I did the west side and it was challenging. My 20 lb dog and I did it no prob but it was a elevation challenge. Only one other car is parking lot when I got there but when I finished the hike around 330 there was 9 cars in lot. Looking forward to doing it in spring and fall Please don't park parallel - doesn't leave much room for others"
"Well maintained trails. Very steep strenuous climb. The East fork is longer, it follows a stream so has nice views. The West fork is shorter has the split rock heart stone. Early May with beautiful wild flowers along path. Expect a 4hr or so hike with casual hiking and taking the loop path. Edit: at the end of the pinnacle path you have to take a small short trail to the overlook. It's on the left."
"Not for the weak, but well worth the battle if your destinationis pinnacle point. The west fork is an uphill battle the whole way, and loose rock is beneath your every step. Highly recommend tall boots tied tight for ankle support, and a positive mental attitude. Once you make it to the top, the view is incredible. You overlook Sylva down below and there are mountains as far as the eye can see. I hiked up in the morning before the sunrise, and saw the blankets of clouds. AMAZING! I had the mountain to myself for 3 hours before the slow trickle of people began their way up."
"This is a toughie! But equally rewarding. Pleasant paved road up to the parking lot. The lot can accommodate perhaps 10-15 vehicles. The trail itself is steep with a lot of loose rock. You have to work for your reward on this hike. If you normally use poles, you’ll want them here. The trail switches back and forth over Fisher Creek, and it’s nice to see the creek ebb and flow as you follow it up the ridge. It does get easier once you get on the spur trail to Pinnacle Point. After another mile and some change, everything drops away and you’re on a crag with 360 views. It’s big enough that a few groups could spread out and find their own spot. Quite a few flowers about and the green is rapidly ascending up the landscape. When you’re done, you’re only a short drive away from great food and drink options in Sylva and Dillsboro."
