Reviews of D ROTI HUT
"I stopped in the evening and got some roti and macaroni pie. The roti from this roti shop was the best in queens village when they first opened. Recently I’ve found there has been a change in the roti when I’ve been purchasing now. It’s not the best in the village like it was when they first opened. I don’t know if there’s a new cook but please go back to making the roti the way you guys did when you first opened!! The macaroni pie was amazing tonight. I’ve also tried chicken curry from here before and it was delicious as well. Please keep up the consistency with the roti though, I loved it too much for it to become like every other roti shop in the village now :("
"Natasha is great. Both of them. I've catered here before too. Food is great and halal"
"I drove an hour and 15 minutes to visit this restaurant and I was so happy with their food. Because of traffic, I got there late, right as they were closing and they made me some fresh dhalpuri roti. It was silky and stuffed with enough filling that was well seasoned. I enjoy that roti with stew chicken and curry potato and a sorrel drink. I went home that night thinking about the food and within a few days drove back with my kids in tow, to see if the quality would be the same. I was not disappointed. This time I bought curry chicken, curry duck, stew chicken, paratha roti, 8 doubles and drinks. The doubles were good, the rest of the food was fabulous! This is my new spot. I ate so quickly that I didn't have time to take pictures."
"Such good food and reasonably priced! I hate having to go to Liberty when I want good doubles because I don’t want to deal with the traffic and the parking. I love the location, I always can find parking that’s close by. I honestly have to say that the doubles are better than the ones you’ll find in Liberty anyways. The bara is soft and it holds the curry channa well. The accompaniments definitely helped in balancing the flavors. I will say the pepper sauce is not enough on the doubles (and yes, I asked for extra pepper). I mean for 1.50 a piece for doubles, it is an amazing price. I also got mango curry which was fantastic as well. I also love that all of the meat is halal. It’s definitely a place I will go back to for a quick, cheap, tasty bite. I would recommend calling in your order so by the time you get there you can just pay instead of waiting in a line. They also have a variety of Trini/Guyanese snacks you can buy. The drink selection is fabulous and the pastry/bread selection is quite nice as well. Definitely try them out!"
"This is hands down the BEST Trinidadian restaurant in the area! Food is authentic and flavorful, prices are reasonable, portions are generous and the staff is very friendly and accommodating! Very chill vibe, always clean and well kept with lots of seating. Good variety of food, great vegetarian options and everything is always fresh. I highly recommend the doubles and their corn soup. Their corn soup is some of the best I've ever had, not just in NYC! Bursting with flavors, all the vegetables and dumplings have the perfect mix of textures and just enough pepper to give it a nice kick! Doubles are the second best I've had in NYC (my #1 spot is a trek so I'll happily settle for these). Pumpkin, channa, curry mango are all fantastic and their roti is always soft and fresh. The ladies are super sweet and also offer great recommendations and I've never felt rushed. If you see fresh mango chow at the register BUY IT, you won't regret it. They also carry lots of other trini snacks and soft drinks! Must visit if you're in the area!"
