Reviews of Chaat Wala
"Our experience at Chaat Wala was exceptional! Farhana's hospitality was outstanding; she graciously answered our questions and provided insightful information about the menu. Starting with Golgappa and Dani, the crispy, thin shells burst with flavor, creating a delightful harmony with the yogurt. The Butter Chicken surpassed expectations, featuring tender chicken and spot-on flavors. The Lamb Curry brought a spicy punch, and the Garlic Naan, straight from the tandoori oven, was absolutely heavenly! We couldn't resist ordering two rounds and skipped the rice – had we not been so full, a third round would've been a must. Overall, a highly satisfying and positive dining experience."
"The food was amazing ! Very tasty and well prepared and you can chose among many menu options. I love the service from Farman, she was so friendly with us and always takes care to offer the best quality! I highly recommend this place."
"Farhana was very attentive and made sure that we didn't have to wait long for the food. The food was excellent. The chaat was good and the salmon had crispy skin and was full of flavor."
"Food quality is very high, not just for Queens, South Asian food, or the price—but by the broadest assessment of food quality. Coming from an Indian household, I was shocked and impressed by the refreshing, delicate dishes we were served which felt a level of precision akin to a fine sushi assortment more than the usual heavy Indian fare. That said, flavors were robust with an explosive taste of each ingredient. On arrival, we were greeted by the charming front-of-house manager, Farhana, who attended to us with diligence, care, and heart-warming hospitality. If you are looking for something fresh with a comfortable atmosphere, you need to try this restaurant. The first floor seating offers plenty of space, but the lower level is an underutilized gem to escape to with your large groups to chill, and dig into fascinating dishes that hit-the-spot. The fun, fresh interior is a pleasant surprise and we enjoyed the vibrant decorations celebrating its Bangladeshi, Indian, and local influences. I found my eyes drawn to the tastefully decorated handwash sink in the corner which was a reminder that this is a restaurant for hand-eaten-enjoyment. Tasty Vegetarian options available to fill you up, though the menu leans more toward fish and chicken. The mood of the restaurant is upbeat, youthful, and smart. Clientele is predominately locals, with a major presence of the local Bangladeshi community which reaffirms the flavor profiles here appeal to South-Asian palates. Atmosphere is relaxed but humming with conversation and delivery / take out patrons. That said, you never feel the squish of the usual queens dining establishment—we were comfortable and our table felt private. If you are unfamiliar with Chaat, this place writes the book on it and offers a gentle introduction or a slam dunk, depending on the one you choose. Western-eaters and adventurous first-timers can expect a comfortable level of spice on most dishes while native-eaters adjust their expectations a bit to prioritize a full-taste of the star of each dish. Service is very quick. We waited no more than 10 minutes for our Golgappa Chaat to arrive and no more than 4 – 5 minutes after this for our next Chaat. The main course was delivered hot and cooked-to-order about 20 minutes after our order was placed. We hit around the $50 mark to absolutely stuff the pair of us with leftovers to spare—tasty drinks, two appetizers, and dessert included. That makes this a bargain, especially for the quality and portion sizes. The restaurant is located on a busy Parsons Blvd. Parking in this strip is fairly easy with plenty of options on the intersecting neighborhood streets. This strip includes several convenient and quality establishments where one could get the weekly shopping done with a follow-up meal at Chaat Wala. But, don’t wait to plan a trip. This one is too easy to get to, and too easy to love. Just come. We tried to find areas of improvement but came to the same consensus—there aren’t any."
