Reviews of The Chicken Shack Rego Park
"Honest review, the owner is super nice and friendly and the place is clean and feels warm and like a good place to eat out. However the food definitely needs a bit of work, their fries aren’t seasoned or even salted, their sweet potato is just cooked and not buttered or seasoned in anyway, gives off minimal effort. Their burgers were really good, I had their cheese and hamburger and loved both. I also liked their grilled chicken and pita bread. You can tell that the food is fresh but there needs to definitely be flavor added to these recipes and a bit of creativity in the kitchen. I think if the owner can fix that problem he will see this restaurant boom."
"This is by far the best foot option in the whole neighborhood. It’s fresh and delicious. The fries are amazing and the grilled chicken is from another world. Thank you for feed me everyday Chicken Shack, you are the best!"
"The short guy was very rude when I asked to use the restroom. I usually go to this place when I get off the train on 63rd drive to use the restroom and get some food. The guy must be new , he basically forced me to order before using the restroom. Being that I had to use the restroom so bad I just ordered a soda I couldn't think of what I wanted to eat at that moment. I had to use the restroom bad from a long train ride. This place lost me as a regular customer thanks to the new guy. I will be reporting this problem. How can some concentrate on what they want to order if they have to go bad."
"The Chicken Shack is a small, family-owned restaurant in Rego Park, Queens. They serve a variety of fried chicken dishes, as well as burgers, sandwiches, and salads. I visited The Chicken Shack for lunch recently and ordered the fried chicken basket. The chicken was cooked well and was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. However, I found the chicken to be a little dry. The sides that came with the basket were also good, but I was disappointed that they charged for each sauce. I think the prices for the sauces were a little too high. Overall, I had a good experience at The Chicken Shack, but I would give it 3 stars instead of 4 or 5 stars because of the dry chicken and the high prices for the sauces. Here are some additional details about my experience: The service was friendly and attentive. The restaurant was clean and well-maintained. The prices were reasonable for the type of food that was served. I would recommend The Chicken Shack to anyone looking for a casual dining experience with good food. However, I would advise them to ask for the chicken to be cooked moister and to skip the sauces, unless they are willing to pay a premium."
"First experience here and it was awful, first of all the wait was super long, second I ordered something that should have been really simple and good in any half rate chicken shack, which was chicken tenders and sweet potato fries, the menu said, 12.50 and after tax it was 14 and change, now you'd think for such a price the food would be amazing, the breading was burnt on the chicken, almost rock hard, fries were soggy with no flavor other than sweet potato flavor, drenched in oil, even the pita bread, though edible, tasted burnt, how do you burn pre made pitas?? I got a side salad I didn't want and they definitely over compensated with a plate that was huge which I was too disgusted to finish, this is what I left"
