Reviews of Costco Pharmacy
"I had a script for medication that I dropped off only to be told later that they didn’t approve of the diagnosis that my doctor listed on the prescription and they wanted a new medical code. After 2 days of bouncing back and forth with my drs office and Costco, my doctor suggested that I just get the hard script and take it to a new pharmacy. I got my script back and took it to Publix down the street where they filled it within 45 mins. The fact that I was going to be without medication for days using Costco’s pharmacy just doesn’t make it worth it."
"I just got off the phone 4:18pm 06/12/23 and the person I spoke with was so rude all I did was ask abt transferring prescription from another Costco. Absolutely no customer services."
"Nobody communicates with you or their fellow employees. Went to pick up a prescription after waiting over an hour for it to be filled, they hadn't started on it yet because they were trying to bill it to an expired insurance provider. Then they said it would be ten minutes to prepare. I waited over an hour before anyone acknowledged I was waiting. They did a shift change in the middle of this, so nobody told the new shift that I was waiting there. We had antibiotic meds for our toddler that require refrigeration sitting on the shelf waiting for pickup for at least 30 minutes. Having to corral a 15 month-old with an ear infection for nearly two hours because we were waiting on incompetent techs to do their job, doesn't fill me with a lot of confidence."
"I go here all the time, mostly for pet meds. The prices are great, which is why I keep coming back. Friendliness and attentiveness of the staff is sometimes an issue. Some staff members - which I don't recall having seen in a while - have been downright rude. Sometimes I have had to wait too long to get any attention. But, generally, the experience is just fine."
"I realized that I had been being overcharged by this Costco pharmacy for months, and I was initially told by a pharmacy employee that my doctor was at fault for not writing my prescription specifically for generic medication. However, my doctor notified me that he had, in fact, been writing the prescription specifically for the generic medication the whole time. When I then questioned the Costco pharmacist, he didn't address the blatant lie I'd been told by the pharmacy employee, and simply said that because my insurance would only cover the brand medication, they were unilaterally filling it for the brand medication, even though it subsequently meant that I had to pay $20/month out-of-pocket more for it (even with insurance) than I would've for the generic medication (without insurance). When I then asked why the Costco pharmacy didn't proactively tell me that I was paying more for the brand than I would've for the generic, he said that they "have too many customers, and appropriately educating them all wouldn't be practical," literally verbatim. I couldn't believe what I'd just heard. Rather than argue with this clown about this pharmacy's ethics, I simply told him that I'd be taking my business to another pharmacy which puts their customers' best interests ahead of the pharmacy's convenience."
