"Hot Springs resort is a very nice campground built along the French Broad river. On one side of the highway is check-in and the hot tubs and lodge. On the other side is the RV & tent campsites built between the river and a railroad. Sites are situated among old growth trees with access on hard packed gravel roads. There are several river access sites with picturesque views interspersed among the parking. The town of Hot Springs is within easy walking distance with a few descent restaurants and shops. Not a lot of extras such as a pool or extensive playground. Some noise noted from the highway and rail tracks. Recommended for a leisurely getaway."
"The facilities were very clean. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Inexperienced RV'ers may find it difficult to park depending on the spot. The grounds were wonderful. Its very nice. Excellent proximity to town. Less than a minute by bicycle and so close to the beautiful French Broad. The place is hard to beat and not terribly expensive. I'll go again."
"We enjoyed it. Spots are a tad close but lots of trees so it isn't too bad. Access to the river and town are great. We had a trailer. Hookup was easy although the water was below ground so kind of muddy. Speaking of which, the sites become shallow ponds in the rain. But we'll be back."
"We went after Labor Day weekend and this place was empty. It was like we had the place to ourselves. We stayed on the river at Site E4 and it was perfect. The river was running hot from all the rain, but there is a little beach area downriver that was perfect view of the AT across the river and upstream as the sun was coming over the ridge. Even with some rain, we built a huge fire and enjoyed our time at this campsite. It probably gets really crowded in the summertime, so I recommend going in the off-season for the peace and quiet."
"We don’t live far from this resort, and booked the last RV campsite at the last minute. There were things we appreciated about this campground. The bathrooms & showers were clean. The RV sites had full hook up (including sewer.) We enjoyed hearing the river and the train that flank each side of the campground at night. There were things we weren’t as happy about. Absolutely no privacy at all. It is more like camping in a cultivated park, not like camping in the “woods.” The kids were painfully loud. Obnoxiously screaming, singing, tossing each other around in a hammock. We have four kids (grown now) and these kids were just being kids… but because they were only 10 yards away, with literally nothing between us, it was definitely not the peaceful experience we were hoping for. While we were sitting by our campfire it was pretty clear that this place is filled with people who have come together to socialize. Which is awesome if that’s what you are going camping for. We go camping to unplug, enjoy nature and a quiet peace. So, this isn’t the place for us but it doesn’t make it bad - it’s just not what we are looking for. I am surprised that the building up front was closed - abandoned looking. When it should be filled with camping gear, ice, ice cream, stickers, candy, kids treats, fishing gear, rafts/tubes etc… they would kill it! The resort seems somewhat run down for the money they are charging and missing leadership. Hopefully they get it together - looks like there is a lot of money people want to spend there."
