Reviews of Lala’s Brooklyn Apizza
"I am a huge fan of Grimm so was looking forward to trying their new pizza spot. Unfortunately, the pizza was quite disappointing. I'm a thin-crust pizza person, but this was so thin it lacked any integrity and felt like eating pizza toppings on a cracker or flatbread. The topping combinations were enticing and creative, but because the pizza was overdone, it was hard to enjoy them. That said, its a fun, hip spot, just like the brewery, and I definitely want to come back in the summer and sit on the rooftop and enjoy their wonderful selection of beers, wines and cocktails. I have seen photos of more robust crusts in other reviews, so maybe the dough/chef was just off the night I went in."
"I love Grimm beer, and always have good experiences downstairs, but the upstairs lala situation is a huge letdown. For the hour+ wait the pizza is fine - not bad, but certainly not worth the compounded value of time+price. A traditional New Haven apizza is also a much more substantial size. The bartenders, though actively busy have an air of neglect toward at least 1 customer every time I got another round. It was me once, and a few other people getting the same “I see you but I don’t see you” service. All in all more attentive staff, and speeding up the pizza process would make this better."
"Having been to New Haven, i was excited to learn one of my favorite local breweries were opening a new haven style pizza restaurant on their roof! We went the second day they opened and I have to say: it stands toe to toe with new haven apizza. We got the clam pie and the traditional red, both were delicious. I particularly enjoyed the clam pie more than I had thought i would. I got a clam pie in new haven that i wasn’t very fond of. Highly recommend it and so happy to have yet another amazing pizza stop in the neighborhood."
"Had pizza here last weekend & the experience was excellent. It’s a great rooftop space that relaxed & not overcrowded. I tried 2 pizzas in the New Haven style, the pepperoni & the squash and they were very good. There are many beers & a handful of wines available too that make nice pairings with the pizza or just a refreshing beverage on a hot summer day. I would def recommend popping over, putting your name on the wait list, grabbing a drink downstairs & waiting to enjoy the chill atmosphere upstairs."
"Incredible crispy crust pizza with unique toppings. My favorites are clam pizza and pepperoni with chilis and honey. They also have great Grimm beer and wine. It looks great too, green and blue tile, pink velvet, long wooden tables."
