About the Moratock Park
Moratock Park is a picturesque tourist attraction located at 1077 Sheppard Mill Road in Danbury, North Carolina. Situated along the Dan River, the park offers stunning views and a variety of recreational activities such as tubing, kayaking, canoeing, and water/beach fun. The park features a shelter, restroom facilities, and a ball field for visitors to enjoy. One of the main highlights of the park is the historic Moratock Iron Furnace, a well-preserved structure from the antebellum period in North Carolina. The furnace, made of rough-quarried granite blocks, was used to produce usable bar iron and stands approximately 28 feet square at the base. The park is also a popular venue for group gatherings and receptions, and can be reserved through the Stokes County YMCA. Additionally, Moratock Park is the host of the annual Stokes County Arts Council’s “Stokes Stomp Festival on the Dan,” held every second Saturday in September. Visit Moratock Park for a day of outdoor fun and history in a beautiful natural setting.

Reviews of Moratock Park
"We enjoyed a nice little pitstop at the park. There wasn't anyone there when we visited so it was a nice, quiet, relaxing spot. The current moves quickly on the river and provides a relaxing sound. There are picnic areas available and it was a clean space."
"I traveled to Hanging Rock State Park and traveled to this park one day. I was disgusted by how unkept it was. There was trash all over the ground. Drinks bottles on the shoreline. The bottle caps from alcohol bottles were all around the picnic tables, and the charcoal grills had been dumped onto the ground. Also, rule #6 is wrong. It says park hours are from Dusk until Dawn. Basically, overnight. It should say from Dawn to Dusk. The Town of Danbury has let this place become an eyesore."
"Picnic, play in the water, skip rocks,or just chill. One of my favorite places to go"
"It was very fun exploring the area! Love seeing animal tracks along the water shore"
"I have been coming to this park for about 25 years now and still enjoy visiting here. When I tube down the Dan River I usually stop at this park on the way out to swing on the rope swing unto the water and then have a picnic. Can be really crowded at times and at others you are all alone. Plenty of area to walk about and explore a little along the banks. Water is typically chilly if not cold throughout the year. I usually wait til about June through August to tube there. Has a shelter and some tables but needs an updated and larger playground for the kids. Maybe add some swings or something. 2 parkinglots available. A historic Iron furnace is also at the park in the lower parkinglot."
