"Enjoy the peaceful sounds of the river flowing over rocks, wade or swim in the river, have a picnic, bring camp chairs and read a book, take a walk."
"Good memories walking around this place. I used to come here as a kid when it was still a church camp. Nice to come back and see the State taking such good care of it. Looks like an excellent place to put some boats in the water."
"Very nice little sand bar to sit and enjoy the river. Great spot for little kids due to the shallow water and nice spots for the bigger ones as well. Beautiful area not far from town. Does get a little too busy sometimes and with the size of the area it makes it difficult to find a spot with a bit of breathing room for you and the family. Nice picnic tables, some with shade. Parking is OK but when its real busy you need to park off to the sides of the road. Great large trail, (that really is a road) runs alongside the river and next to a beautiful church. Easy trail for those that may not want to hike up the mountains or need something less physical. A real enjoyable walk. I've seen many visitors with dogs walking the trail. Such a beautiful area. Really makes you proud to have places like this nearby."
"Great addition to New River State Park. Only 15 minutes from Jefferson/West Jefferson. Beach for wading, swimming, tubing and fishing. Good amount of parking beside the beach (but full on July 3rd!). Picnic tables but no rest rooms. Beautiful clear water on the day we visited- enjoyed seeing the fish swimming around our feet!"
"1st part of river bend accessible but State Park gate is Closed; ...seen multiple State Park trucks drive by locking gate behind them."
