Reviews of Food & Fire BBQ-Taphouse
"The first thing I want to say is I'd give our service 5 stars. The food is what made it 3 stars. We came here for my wife's birthday. There were 8 of us, and we wanted to try something new. Paula was our waitress and she was such a good waitress. She was friendly and attentive. Honestly, she was the best part of the dinner. We all ordered alcoholic drinks. They had a bunch of specials that were very good, including the sour cherry mojito and the equilibrium string theory. We ordered 3 appetizers, which were fried pickles, smokehouse loaded tots, and the stuffed jalapeños. I was surprised how very small the portions were for an appetizer, but all tasted very good. The jalapeños smoke bombs are very spicy, by the way. I ordered the 2 meat taster and got ribs and brisket. Most of the table got a variety of the meats that they offer. The 2 burgers that were ordered for the table came out perfect and hot. But all our smoked meats were cold. From the brisket to chicken to ribs and pork, it was slightly warm at best. The ribs, in my opinion, were very well seasoned, and I got them wet, I was very happy with the taste. All of our sides, though, we're nice and hot. The Mac and cheese is very good, along with the loaded mash potatoes. The deviled potatoe salad seemed that they were barely cooked, though. It's got a nice big bar in here with tvs and a patio for the summertime where you can play corn hole and hang out. As I started off, we were disappointed with some of the meals not being hot, but our waitress was top-notch. The kitchen is failing this place because the food is actually good. I hope they change around what's wrong because this could be a great spot"
"My first visit to this restaurant. I was surprised to see that I didn't have to wait long to be seated, especially on a Saturday night. However, as I walked to my table, I noticed that the floor was dangerously slippery, which was a bit concerning. I ordered a quinoa salad, which was decent and I would rate it a 7 out of 10. The macaroni and cheese and mashed potatoes were really good, I would give them a 9 out of 10. However, the half stack of ribs that my daughter ordered was not up to par. They were hard and rubbery, definitely not what we were expecting. Our waiter seemed a bit overwhelmed with a lot of tables, so she wasn't able to come to ours frequently. This resulted in us not having the essentials we needed, like napkins. Additionally, when you order ribs, you usually get those wet towel napkins, but they were not provided to us. Overall, I was not too impressed due to the safety of the flooring and the lack of necessities, but I would still give the food and everything else a 7 out of 10."
"Food & Fire unfortunately let us down. We came right around 12:30 and were seated promptly, only a few others here. Menu was actually very nice and prices were also reasonable for BBQ! However… the food - Our pulled pork was lukewarm, I’d say cold but my wife will argue it was barely warm. Chicken was okay but nothing special. Ribs were the only thing on the platter that were hot and they were somewhat decent. Now the brisket, the brisket was like chewing a tire off a car. I’ve never had brisket from a bbq restaurant that was so hard to chew and the fat didn’t melt in my mouth. It was inedible. BBQ sauces and the mustard were the texture of water so that was a bit odd. The sweet and bold was the only one my whole group liked. However the atmosphere was nice and the place was really clean. Bathrooms were also very nice. I’m disappointed because Middletown has very few options such as this for food and was looking forward to their opening. Possibly will revisit in the spring."
"This was my first time here. I was immediately seated and the waitress came over quickly. I ordered the bbq taster and had brisket, wet ribs, gouda mac & cheese and deviled potato salad. I enjoyed everything with the exception of the potato salad. It was different. The food was very tasty and I would have rated it higher however my meats came to the table at room temperature and the cornbread (which was really good) was served upside down and cold. Definitely will go back and give it a another chance."
"Dine date 11/11/23 Review date 11/12/23. My fiance and I decided to try out Food and Fire (at time of review a brand new restaurant) and it was an OK experience. Located at once was Allan's Mediterranean Grill F&F now occupies it. We were seated quickly and they took our drink orders. Eventually they came back and gave us two pieces of cornbread which was a nice surprise, let's see if they continue to do that after a few months to a year being open as the 110 grill used to serve bread as well. Now on to our first negative (which unfortunately we didn't take a picture of) our knives were still dirty and had small crumbs of food stiff left on it. We ordered our food ( two burgers) and appetizer (bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers). Both our burgers as well as the jalapeno poppers came out. Burgers looked and tasted delicious and we were pretty pleased with that. The sauces that they have on each table are nice depending on what you want. Personally the sweet mustard goes well with the fries. Other sauces may be too liquidly for some. Negative number two is the Jalapeno Poppers themselves. They were presented very nice but unfortunately it seems like they were left out to be served with our burgers. While the burgers were juicy and hot the poppers were cold, not spicy and unsatisfying. We paid for our meal and left. We may return here and try it again. If we do I'll update the review. For right now it's sad that it was such a middle of the road experience for a brand new restaurant. Next time maybe we'll do the ribs and pulled pork but being served the cold appetizer and questionably clean knives may also keep us away."
