Reviews of Kodiak Jacks
"1st time there, dinner and cocktails with the wife. Both excellent and reasonable. We live in Newstead, BUT we will return"
"We’ve always come here for drinks, food and usually the bar that attracts us. Every single time we come we order off the menu inside get our food Togo and eat it outside to enjoy the band, which we already have to pay cover for. Usually our pepper dip, that we always order, come with grilled pita to dip inside, today we got stale tortilla chips and when asked for new (fresher ones) we were told they’d all be stale. They are very inconsistent. Last summer there was no cover for the bands, this summer it’s $5 at the door with expensive food and now today it’s $5 at the door and you can’t enjoy food anymore. Such potential this place has but unfortunately it’s going down hill. Definitely would recommend somewhere else for music that lets you enjoy dinner. Now we spent $50 to get in, with all our people, and left hungry because we can not eat the dinner we came here for."
"I was visiting family and we decided to go to Kodiak Jacks for fish. I remember the place from over two decades ago and it wasn't a place I would have gone to. But I found a very pleasant surprise as the owner has gone through enormous efforts to make Kodiak Jacks a pleasant family experience. The bar is segregated from the dining area and it was pretty full when we visited. Our fish came batter fried and Cajun. With it I had German potatoes and my companion had fries. Both plates also came with macaroni salad, cole slaw and rye bread. The star was the fish, very well done. When the batter is crunchy from the first bite to the last, you know someone has an excellent chef. I wish the same could be said regarding the salads, as we both agreed they were plentiful but bland. Service was 5 star, and those ladies were busy, busy, busy. They worked together and endured every table was happy. It may be several years before I revisit Kodiak Jacks because it is a long way from Florida. But when I return, I'd happily eat at Kodiak Jacks again."
"If you are not from the immediate area, you will find Kodiak Jacks to be a really unique spot. It is located in an area surrounded by countryside and farms. Program it into your GPS so you might drive right by it. On our visit we sat on the patio, as the main dining room was closed. This appears to be typical on Tuesday and Wednesday nights at this time. We entered The Grove area (entrance off to the rear left if the building) where are there are tables scattered throughout the space. Servers were not coming to the tables oer protocol, but there was a table under a tent by the building where you could walk up and order food & non-alcoholic beverages. Simply pay for your food there and they will bring it to you when it's ready. The outdoor bar was also open for those wanting beer, wine or a cocktail. Portions are very generous and the food was tasty and hit the spot. On Tuesday and Wednesday nights they have live music (6-9 pm) as well as other nights with feature bands. Be sure to check there calendar (on their website). Predominantly a summertime thing with bands on the outdoor stage. Certainly a place worth checking out, but bring your appetite or you will be bringing home leftovers!"
"First time here, didnt eat, bar and dining area were nice and comfortable by appearance. Outside was a band we went to check out with a small bar out back. Great area, good service. Had fun, would come back to try food or if the band looks good."
