"We used Casa Law for a real estate closing and it was a complete disaster. Kathy Casa, mother of Angela Casa, was basically posing as an attorney in a "satellite office" in Winston-Salem, NC. A very simple real estate closing with no lender was all that was involved. Not only did Casa Law NOT CHARGE the seller their pro-rated share of the 2023 property taxes, but they took the buyer's (my wife and I) pro-rated share of the 2023 taxes and gave it to the seller. The property tax bill was never paid. As it stands now, we are obligated for the entire, as-of-yet unpaid property tax bill even though we have already paid for our share. We accidentally caught the error when we looked to verify that the property was in our name and saw that the bill had not been paid even though it was 4 months after closing. Further investigation revealed that our money had been given to the seller and that the seller wasn't charged their share of the taxes. We immediately notified Casa Law of this discovery and since that time (about a month ago) have heard every excuse you can imagine. The office in Winston appears to no longer be open and we have just heard the same about the Davidson, NC office. We are now left with filing complaints with the NC Bar as well as suing Casa Law as our best options. I would steer clear of this incompetent group."
