"Wonderful place that filled all our needs… close to the lake… would book it again on our next trip to the area…"
"Maplecrest is right down the road from the state park (the primary access pt.). Great location and John was very responsive to emails and texts. We comfortably slept 8 and a Lab. House isn't fancy but has everything you need, with possible exception of Wifi (according to our teenagers). Perfect spot to unwind and fire up the grill after a great lake day."
"Do not rent this property! Keep looking. Way better spots to rent. I am a 46 year old married man who rented the property for a weekend along with three other married couples. Upon arrival I was disappointed because when we showed up the grass had not even been cut in what looked like two weeks. Shrubs and bushes around the house were all grown up and not maintained. The house has horrible water pressure! We all could barely get clean the water was so weak in the shower. Not to mention after the first shower the second person had to stand in eight inches of dirty water due to the slow drains in the house. The toilet would not even drain correctly when there was water in the tub. This water would take an hour to drain out before a third person could even get in. We also saw multiple bugs inside the home and the mattresses must be 20 years old. Everybody’s back’s hurt the next morning. I have only left like 3 reviews in my entire life and probably would have not left this one. But there is more to the story. I had called and asked the homeowner if I paid $75 could I check out at 12:00 on Sunday instead of 10:00. He called me back and agreed but during our phone conversation he stated his housekeeper would have to make a special trip later that evening because her normal cleaning schedule was at that time but she would plan accordingly. Well here’s where the lies begin! When my deposit was returned is was $435 from the $600. Yes I was expecting the $75 to come out for late check out as we agreed upon. But he said his housekeeper told him the house smelled like tobacco and charged him 2 hours extra to clean doors, rugs, linens, etc. Yes we had four guests that do smoke but they did not smoke a single cigarette in that house or on the porches per house rules. All cigarettes were smoked outside in yard. The people do not even smoke in their own homes or our friends homes out of respect. The housekeeper just flat out lied because we inconvenienced her due to our staying late to check out. She made her two hours up on my dime. The homeowner does not even live in town so he doesn’t even know if she is lying or not by the way. It is not as much about the money but more about being accused of something that we did not do! Like I said stay away from this property! You will be disappointed."
"A truly lovely spot nestled next to Lake Jocassee. John was very receptive to any questions and had fantastic advice which really helped make our stay the best it could be. The house is so warm and welcoming and made us feel right at home. Having travelled from the UK, it was great to feel so settled so quickly. The facilities on offer are perfect for an idyllic getaway. My favourite part was relaxing on the porch with my family and enjoying a few margaritas. A really wholesome and enchanting feel about the place that is very refreshing. If I could extend my two weeks there I would but alas. Jocassee is beautiful, the people are beautiful here, and Maple Crest is perfect for an escape to South Carolina's incredible countryside. Thanks John!"
"I called Maplecrest because we are interested in renting the first week of May. A very rude man answered the phone. He sounded like he did not even want to talk or give information. He rushed the less than 1 minute phone call and hanged up abruptly. Not professional."
