Reviews of Globe Treks Tours and Cruises
"This review is specifically about Globe Trex and not the trip itself. The trip itself was amazing. We visited beautiful parks and saw everything we could imagine. The hotels we stayed at were all wonderful and I would definitely recommend them or visit them again. The reason for the review was some concerns with Globe Trex and our trip lead. 1. We signed up for the trip in early March and got our own airfare. We met with Greg (owner) in June to discuss some details. Never was any change to initial arrivals or departures mentioned. Globe Trex changed the arrival and departure airports and never let us know. We found out in late August (travel was October) when we asked a few questions about transport. I will give Globe Trex credit as they did cover the cost of change fees associated with our flights, but the lack of communication and confusion around the flights was frustrating. 2. The trip schedule really needs to be examined. For most of the trip it felt rushed and there was almost no down time. While we did and saw a lot in a short time, it would have been nice to have been able to absorb and process. An addition such as an extra day at Chobe would have not impacted the trip much and would have been a welcome addition. 3. The last day was a waste. Most of the day (11 hours) was spent waiting in airports to fly back to Atlanta. If the trip was better planned this waste of time could have been avoided. While I realize changes to the overall itinerary for the number of people on the trip would have been difficult by the time the trip lead took over, it would have been possible to have some optional add ons offered. This speaks to #4 below. 4. Our in-country guides, porters, drivers and leaders were amazing and did a fantastic job. I learned a lot from them and they were lovely to meet. However, the Globe Trex trip leader was really an unnecessary addition who caused more confusion than help. She did not seem to not know the trip plans when addressing the group. She would provide multiple times we needed to be ready to be picked up and seemed confused about times which luggage would need to be ready and under estimated the time it would take to collect bags from different areas of a hotel. She would interrupt and demean group members. She attempted to treat the group like kindergartners when it benefited her. For instance, she wanted to create a seating chart for where people sat on safari but never once mentioned changing up or a seating chart for where people say on the travel vans. She would talk over the guides and in general did not promote a strong leadership role as she would not be firm on what needed to occur. She tried to cater to people’s desires rather than addressing issues with trip participants. She would rush through immigration/customs and leave participants behind to figure out what they needed to do on their own. We’d considered using Globe Trex for another trip next year but have decided based on this experience to look elsewhere. We were hoping for a stress and worry free travel experience. This was met due to the in country guides and porters we were lucky enough to have in each port. I can’t say Globe Trex hit the mark on creating a stress-free travel experience."
"Fabulous day at the StoryTelling Fest in Jonesborough, TN. We traveled with Globe Treks Tours. Guide Greg was wonderful. Van luxurious. Cost for the trip was very reasonable. Upscale touches...scenic stop, cocktails, sandwiches for the ride home. Relaxing day."
"Just got back from the Buffalo Roundup trip. I highly recommend this trip. It was well planned and executed. John, out tour leader and driver, made the trip one never to forget."
"Greg and his associates helped us book a European trip and extension. He was available with excellent advice and professional services. Upon our return we had major airline issues and he was texting and phoning us until the problem was solved, regardless of the late and extended hours. We recommend his services and will travel with him again."
"We have traveled twice with Globe Treks. We have found it quite professionally run. They are very popular and like all travel agencies are very busy. I recommend you get on their email list and newsletters. Then, if truly interested in a particular tour, go to their office on highway 25. You will find their people most helpful and kind. Their manager Greg is spectacular and very helpful. We have had great experiences but trying to get information only by phone is not the best way to work with any travel agency."
