Reviews of Del Webb Wilmington- 55+ Retirement Community
"We have only lived in the community for 2 1/2 weeks. So far, everyone has been extremely friendly and welcoming. We love the amenities and the safe environment the community provides. The only change that we would personally like to see modified is to be able to have more than four guest passes to the pool. This makes it difficult (impossible) to have our son, a family of six, join us at the same time. We look forward to meeting our many neighbors and taking part in all of the activities offered here!."
"My Stars do NOT reflect the community. Del Webb Community here in Wilmington is everything you could ask for. 5 stars all day. Friendly, open, engaged neighbors and a Lifestyle manager who works tirelessly to keep us active and excited. MANY clubs and groups for your existing lifestyle hobbies or ones you've always wanted to acquire. Easy to get involved. Great club, gym, pools (one indoor heated and one outside resort type), courts, a 3 1/2 mile walking path around the lake. Multiple courts for games. Just wonderful. We've made more, better friends in shorter time than we could have ever guessed. However, you need to have low expectations for the build/construction quality or the willingness of Pulte/Del Webb to satisfy issues. There are numerous minor issues everywhere you look. Remember, you are not paying top dollar for a custom home. Many (most) residents will tell you about the one, two, or more unacceptable issues relating to the build. Some of us have not been able to resolve them. We have two big ones: Our master shower has a metal framed door which was framed without accounting for the thickness of the tile seat so our top track is out of square by almost 1/2 inch. The doors close with a gap at the top right and the door rolls down on its own. Our home was occupied by a tenant for the first 2 years. They didn't report this to us and Pulte said "Sorry, no longer our problem" (FYI, one of the models actually has the same problem!) Our second is the back patio slider doors are also out of square. Probably/Possibly due to settling (all homes are built on sand) and Pulte won't warrant settling issues. I'm not sure how we can tell and I don't trust the warranty team on this. Other issues are not uncommon to new houses in affordable prices - gaps at all the moldings especially on the sunny side of the house, light switches not square, lousy paint quality which should be repainted inside and out within 3-5 years, sloppy framing issues which show up as bowed walls. IF you go into this with a willingness to watch closely and communicate constantly, and don't expect to have the perfection of a custom home builder in a tract home, you will like the floorplans and can't beat the lifestyle here. So: Community: 5+ stars. Home quality: We know we weren't buying or could afford A+ construction quality and expected B to B-. I give them a C-."
"Great Place to live, the neighbors are great (its like a big family) and the amenity center is great. All of the Del Webb employees are great to work with and they all do an outstanding job. I highly recommend it. The only negative is their landscape company which I'm hoping they will replace soon."
"We love our community of Del Webb Riverlights. Beautiful Amenities Center with great activities to choose from. We enjoy Pickleball and Bocce and Swimming besides exploring Wilmington. Come take a tour ask for Bill Knott a great sales consultant. You'll be glad you did."
"We love Wilm NC for many years and looking to retire, had appointments at all the local communities. Why DelWebb in Riverlights wasn't on our hit list, I don't remember but since we were put up for days with another community in the downtown Wilm, thought why not check it out, we are so closeby. Then we kept comparing the other communities to DelWebb homes and RL amenities, and nothing else was even close to comparison. Bill at DelWebb is always informative and readily available for questions as our house went through the building stage with weekly email updates from the Field Manager. Looking forward to many years here in Wilm NC! and No I haven't smelled any foul odors like Scotto lol"
