"Black Mountain was lovely and the half a dozen shopkeepers we met and patronized were wonderful. Our impression of the town was soured by the incredibly rude and dismissive woman who was staffing the visitors center about 1215pm on 3/19/23. We had questions about the status of the Blue Ridge Pkway and getting to Mount Mitchell, since the park website says the Parkway is closed and she spoke to us as though we were idiots, including telling us “there’s this thing called moisture” which freezes when it gets cold. Perhaps if working with folks who aren’t familiar with the area is trying and unpleasant for her, working in a visitors center is not the best use of time."
