"We recently met with Carrie Mincey for help in preparing my will and my wife's will. We also had her set up our LLC for our Beach property. We were very pleased with the professional and personal service and would highly recommend their firm. Stephen Newbern"
"If you are closing on your home in or near Wilmington, NC this is the attorney you should be using. I worked at Colby & Mincey, PLLC for a little under a year. I truly can not say enough about my former co-workers and bosses. Every person on the staff is always willing to jump in and help whenever it is needed. The staff truly is like a family. The work environment that the lawyers have created benefits the staff and the community who uses Colby & Mincey to deal with their legal needs. 10/10!"
"If I could give this attorneys office zero stars I would. My husband and I have been trying to purchase a home for over 6 months now. The home we are trying to purchase is a family estate. The attorney's office has been working on paperwork for the estate and handling the closing of our loan. Needless to say they have been extremely unprofessional and they have caused us to push back our closing date multiple times, which my husband and I get penalized for financially. They have not returned phone calls or emails from our mortgage broker, our real estate agent, and they have lied about the progress on our case on many occasions. Working with this attorney's office has been a absolute nightmare and I do not recommend them for anything!!!!! I will be reporting them to the better Business bureau as well."
"Of all the real estate closings I have been involved in, this has been the worst ever. After we signed all of the paperwork and thought we were closed, we later found out they overlooked something that was going to keep the purchase from recording. Then about 2 months later, we tried to pay our HOA dues. Colby and Mincey had not forwarded the checks that covered that during closing. That took another month to get straightened out. Also, part of the contract for selling our property included transferring the home warranty. They left it off completely. We found that out after 2 months when the home warranty company charged us. It has been a nightmare to get that taken care of. Hopefully we will free and clear of all of these mistakes soon. Do your research when choosing your lawyer. Don't pick them because they are in the same building as your realtor."
"I retained this law firm to sell a home in Wilmington, while I lived in Raleigh. There were several difficulties that were not their fault, specifically hurricane Florence which swept through, and some documents which were apparently "delivered late" from the buyer. However, due to other issues with the staff there, and unnecessary delays detailed below, I would NOT recommend this law firm to a friend, and I highly recommend you find another law firm. They were consistently late getting documents to us, particularly documents that needed to be signed and notarized. For example, we did not get the final seller's disclosure until Wednesday night (closing on Friday!). They also literally sent a final document to be signed AND notarized on Thursday evening. I ended up **having to drive 2 hours down to Wilmington to hand deliver the documents**. In addition, as co-trustees of the trust which contained the home, two other co-trustees in their 80's made an appointment to sign their documents. They lived in Wilmington, so figured it would be quick. Instead, even with an appointment, they ended up waiting over 30 minutes just to see someone to sign the documents. I only went with Colby and Mincey because they were recommended by a realtor. I would highly recommend you find someone else for your home buying/selling needs."
