"I’m very sad for my mother , she is a 76 year old woman who lost her husband of 30 years on Jan.23rd 2019 . A few months later In May of 2019 my mother hired Don Spurrell to help her collect my step fathers retirement. I was with her on this day . He took the case and made my mom feel like he cared . Before we left his office he told my mother to trust him . She trusted him for 3 years . During this time my mom would call for updates and no one ever wanted to take her call . His receptionist was very kind but unfortunately we hired Don instead of her . My mother would make appointments with him and she would show up and his receptionist would tell my mom he already left for the day . He would never call her to reschedule . She would call him ever so often to get updates . He was never available and would never return her calls. She has just been in the dark for 3 years but excepted it because she trusted this lawyer . She finally after 3 years received some paperwork from my stepfathers company about the retirement and she decided she should take all this paperwork to his office . This was on Thursday August 9th 2022. I was with her . When she went inside we where greeted by his daughter Grace . Grace asked my mom for the paperwork and she would give it to Don because as usual Don was not available.my mother is old and can come off as being rude sometimes because she speaks loud . But my Mother told her No I am not Leaving this paperwork because I’m going to a financial advisor . We turned to leave and as we got into the car my Mother gets a phone call from Don , he tells her and I quote “ please do not ever talk to my daughter again , and please do not come back into this office . I do not represent you “ . Now if he wanted to drop this case that is his rights but notifying the client is probably a good idea. My Mother has been setting for 3 years thinking she had representation. This broke my heart for her because she felt defeated ! He asked her to trust him on that first day and she did whole heartedly . And he broke this trust in the most immoral way . I do not recommend this man not just for the way he spoke to my elderly mother but because the lack of communication , the amount of time that went by and the lack of empathy . YES lawyers have to have some kind of empathy - especially for those who put their entire lives in their hands . I’m so disappointed and I will be taking my Mother to speak with an attorney on Monday to see what she needs to do . This has been a very stressful 3 years !"
"Don was great through all phases of my case. Ultimately the charges were dismissed after many continuances due to covid. He was always open and very friendly and willing to speak with me regardless of when I called."
"This man has done nothing but made our problems worse and with a bill. He doesn’t listen to what you’re asking, and is rude and disrespectful. His daughter is just as bad. How are you going to charge someone so much money and not help whatsoever? All these five star reviews have to be fake because he is nothing but problems."
"We started our case with Donald Spurrell who advised that he would be handling our situation, and that we DID NOT need to do any leg work. The day of our court date he sent in his colleague/daughter Grace. She was unprepared for the case due to not having all the details for our case. After the court date, we ended up taking hours doing our own leg work to find a resolution to settle this same day (as we were told "we will handle everything, or what are you paying us for?"). We tried contacting the lawyers office multiple times to speak with someone there to assist us, which should have already been taken care of. We were unaware of their lunch time, and trying to handle this before the work day is finished. When we finally reached Grace she said it was unacceptable that we had called her office 4-5 times and she said, "am I not allowed a lunch?" I responded that yes you are, but we are trying to get this done before the work day ends, and we wouldn't be bothering you if your office had done your job before our court date, which you advised would be handled. She ended with "you can Speak to Don, this is not my case, do not call our office again," and disconnected the call. Excuse me, YOU were our lawyer in court. The end of the day is now approaching and there is still no resolution. I do have to say the receptionist was nice and tried to help us the most. Sadly we are not paying the receptionist, we are paying the lawer. This was an awful experience ontop of an already stressful situation. I am not paying thousands of dollars for your office to be rude and disrespectful to me over the phone, when all we need is help. If you do not want to help, and not do your job, you could have advised we look elsewhere. Repulsive attitude from Grace, very unprofessional!"
"He is a very intelligent man. Speaks the truth like it or not. He did a miracle for my daughter. Even he thought this couldn't happen. He is very personable and laid back in a way that puts you at ease, I would highly recommend him."
