Reviews of Raven Rock Mountain
"Absolutely fell in love with everything about Raven Rock Mountain! As I drove to the top I felt my mind and heart being uplifted. The views are nothing short of spectacular! I had the privilege of being in both the tree house and the cabin on the rock ledge. The tree house is super cool and made me feel like a giddy kid. You can actually cook on the deck outside! The cabin on the rock ledge was my favorite. A boutique cabin with all the lux an off the grid cabin could possibly offer! No matter which cabin you choose this tranquil property is a bucket lister!!! The pavilion is amazing with an architectural wonder fireplace. An intimate wedding in this vignette surrounded by your loved ones while witnessing a sunset together would be epic!"
"Our business did a yoga retreat and private session at the new pavilion and had the most amazing time. Our staff was greeted by the owners Doug and Jen who made sure we had rides up to the to the facility even though we forgot to rent a 4x4. The views from Raven Rock Mountain are timeless and the sunsets left us speechless. We highly recommend renting the pavilion and their cabins if you want to create a memorable experience."
"IMPORTANT UPDATE Since posting this review the coordinator for Raven Rock, Lauren Serrano had several friends and family members leave five star reviews all at the same time. There is no evidence that any of these events ever took place. At the time of our tour Lauren told us that there had not yet been a single real wedding at Raven Rock, only staged shoots. This is evident on Instagram where you can plainly see that no one has tagged the venue in any real weddings. We initially booked Raven Rock as the venue for an after elopement dinner party for 30-35 people after a tour with Lauren where she seemed very flexible, open minded and easy going. She offered us a very low price for the event and in hindsight that should have been a big red flag. She then let over a month pass while we booked vendors before suddenly having a problem with our photographer. She was like a different person after we signed, becoming rigid, bossy and difficult. Our photographer specializes in small weddings and elopements and that has exclusively comprised her ten year career in this industry. She has always acted as day of coordinator for these small scale intimate events and Lauren was unable to work with us on this. Regardless of who is right or wrong Lauren's additude towards my fiancé was uppity, unprofessional and deeply unpleasant. It was also clear to me that our photographer was deeply relieved we wouldn't be working with Raven Rock anymore. You cannot expect to excel in the wedding industry when you treat customers and other vendors like they are stupid. She truly was completely disinterested in understanding where we were coming from and spent the majority of a 17 minute phone call trying to ram her beliefs about what we should want on our wedding day down my fiancé's throat. We ended up feeling so negatively about our interaction with Lauren that we couldn't risk having her involved in our wedding day. Her demeanor is completely different from 100% of the other vendors I have interacted with. I would think carefully before booking a venue run by someone who doesn't act as though they have the experience they're claiming to have, no matter how good the deal seems. Again- this ultimately was not about the requirement of a separate day of coordinator and instead about how that misunderstanding should have been handled differently. The last thing I want on my wedding day is to be talked down to."
"Magical! Words cannot describe how special this place is. Thank you to Lauren and the entire Raven Rock team for helping to create such an amazing experience for our guests. Lauren is a true gem. Kind, organized and attentive to event detail. We are so grateful!"
"Do not recommend for weddings or private events. While the location is picturesque and seems like a great setting for your small wedding or celebration, be warned that there are a few glaring issues: For context, we wanted to host an intimate dinner for ~30 guests at Raven Rock in the evening following a private elopement ceremony at a different location earlier in the day. We chose the venue because we did not want to be constrained by or charged for the strict requirements and expectations that most venues enforce for a traditional wedding. We searched for months and finally thought we had found the perfect fit when we toured Raven Rock and spoke to the event manager, Lauren. During our tour and conversation with Lauren, we told her exactly what we were looking for in a location for our dinner, how involved we wanted to be, the flexibility and privacy we were seeking, and the desire to coordinate directly with each of our chosen vendors. Given that Raven Rock doesn't provide any traditional in-house event services such as catering, tables and chairs, etc., Lauren assured us this wouldn't be a problem. We would basically have the entire property at our disposal for our 24 hour booking the same way that any other guest would that was simply booking the Airbnb cabins on the property. Even though we expressly discussed this not being an actual wedding, ceremony, etc., Lauren sent us a wedding contract in order to secure the dates and host our dinner there. Given that there was nothing in the contract that seemed to inhibit what we discussed, we signed and paid our deposit. Nearly two months later, Lauren revealed herself to be extremely difficult, short-sighted, and unwilling to compromise on her opinions of how our event should be run. She wrote to tell us that per the contract we needed a dedicated day-of-wedding coordinator and that the person we had selected wouldn't meet her requirements. When we reminded her that we would technically not be having a wedding and asked what the requirements of this role would be, she refused to put them in writing but called and spent nearly 20 minutes providing vague, inconsistent, and unlikely scenarios that "we wouldn't want to deal with on our special day." For each example, I reiterated how those wouldn't apply because we wouldn't be having a ceremony, wouldn't be staying night, had dedicated people with each vendor already handling that task, etc. She continued to tell me that I was wrong and that I "wouldn't want that." Not only was it completely unprofessional, but it was so frustrating to have someone that doesn't know you at all to tell you what you do or do not want when you (as the event host) are clearly telling them the opposite. Finally, she told me that it would simply be a requirement for us to hire a dedicated day-of coordinator. Her recommendation? Surprise...it was HER. She assured me that we wouldn't be able to find anyone cheaper than her (to provide the services we kept saying that we did not want or need). Rather than accept her offer or pay for another unnecessary individual, we opted to cancel our contract. After a single phone conversation, we honestly preferred to forfeit our deposit and change our plans than risk Lauren interacting with any of our guests. Other cons: While Lauren insinuated (but made no promise) that these improvements may come in the next year, there is currently no on-site bathroom for guests other than a single bathroom in the cabin that is recommended to use as the bridal suite. Also, the unpaved drive up to the property is not accessible by vehicles without AWD. We had multiple vendors tell us they would likely have to limit what they could deliver and Lauren told us they would have to provide a shuttle service for guests as an additional expense."
