Reviews of Crunch Fitness - Village District
"Goodluck cancelling the membership. I've cancelled twice, now. 18 months later, I find they started billing me utilizing a different transaction I.D so the block on my card wouldn't recognize it."
"This location should not be a "Select" club. For reference, I've been to several other standard locations, and they have all provided the same if not more amenities than the Cameron Village location. I opted to pay more for this location for my own convenience of working and living nearby, and compared to most other gyms in Raleigh it is still worth the rate they offer. It's just annoying that 15 minutes away the Creedmoor location is almost half the cost for a larger, less crowded gym. The only unique amenity Cameron Village offers over other Crunch locations is the outdoor area, which is pretty nice, but not enough to warrant a $20/month price hike. My experience with the staff has always been great, and switching from a standard membership to a select one was relatively seamless. I know a lot of people have mentioned that they had a hard time managing their account, but I did not have any issues myself. The only things I am less than satisfied with the gym itself is the cleanliness of the locker rooms and the crowdedness at peak hours. The sauna has trash and dirt piling up under the benches, and the exhaust in the restroom may or may not be broken because it can smell pretty bad throughout the entire locker room when someone blows up the toilet. I don't recommend going to this gym right at 5 because it is relatively small and fills up pretty quick. Other than that time slot, I've had no trouble finding open equipment early in the morning and later at night."
"I’ve went to Crunch for a few years and I really enjoy it. It’s kept clean and the staff is great. Specifically Mike, I’ve trained with him for about 6-8 months and I really enjoy it! He’s super knowledgeable, he challenges me but is also super personable. I highly recommend training with him."
"I had a personal training contract with the gym. In December, my trainer was fired without notice to clients and I was told that I would have to start over with a new trainer, losing 6 months of prepping with the original trainer. I cancelled my training membership based on her firing and was met with rudeness from the personal training manager. I was told I had to pay for 2 more months because they fired my trainer right after my payment, missing the 30 day period. I asked to be refunded for the unused sessions and was again met with rudeness. The manager kept saying I go to another trainer but by this point I was unhappy with the disregard for my experience by firing my trainer with no options other than a new trainer I cancelled my contract with the gym because of this whole experience. I asked for a refund of some form from the current fitness manager for my leftover training sessions since I cannot use them without a gym membership. I was told I waited too long to request a refund for these sessions when I had been asking from the beginning of the year and that I didn’t understand the contract properly and there was nothing they were willing to do to help. While a majority of the people I interacted with were respectful, I lost a lot of money in unused sessions and was frustrated with the way everything was handled for me. I would really like them to improve this whole system because it feels incredibly predatory as is."
"I subscribed to the 3 day trial online only to be told they won't honor it when I went to the gym because I don't live in Raleigh. Where's that information on the website? Also, it doesn't make sense since Crunch Fitness is a chain that's all over the country... so my experience here could carry over to where I live since it's one brand. Also for the one day pass they want $35, that's completely overpriced for the market, even on a local level. Niche gyms like cross fit or boxing don't even charge that much. I declined and I'm leaving this review. Maybe the rapid increase in wages for service workers and the huge supply of gyms makes them rethink their marketing in the future, but idk maybe the profit margin on $35 day passes are keeping them afloat."
