"Not quite 5 star but definetly 4.5. Best staff I've dealt with in a while. Came after rains so I had entire course to myself. I think maybe 3 others showed up by the time I made the turn. Restaurant worker was even superb. As esthetically pleasing as I remember. Most holes are normal but about 5 really are pga level quality. One island par 3. Number 10 has bunkers and high mounds entire left side. Such a pleasant course to look at so long as you don't fear hitting over obstacles. If you don't know your distances and can't hit easily in the air you will struggle. If you can control height you'll love hitting over so many obstacles. Like all founders courses I would play again. Most founders are on golfnow."
"Great course. Fun and challenging Jack Nicklaus layout. The island green on Hole 13 is cool. Great shape, overseed is coming in nicely in October. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Booked early am tee time online for $76.99. Overall, it is great value for the price. I'm already looking forward to my next round here."
"Playing now, Friday Oct. 20, 2023. We’re part of the Myrtle Beach Passport. & was looking forward to playing here at Long Bay. The course is in great condition. However, the pace of play is EXTREMELY SLOW!! We waited most holes AT LEAST 10 or more minutes to tee off. On one hole in particular, there were 5 SEPARATE groups on the hole. Not sure if they overbooked or mismanaged, but I would be very hesitant to come back to play here for this reason. Looking at a 5.5 hour round on a normal weekday."
"I am not sure where to start with this course, but I will try to break down my experience on October 5, 2023. I made the tee time here 8 months in advance, because I saw the ads that this was a Jack Nicklaus Signature Course. We drove 900 miles to play here as part of our Myrtle Beach trip. I made 2 times for this day, leaving 5 hours and 20 minutes between starting times, so we would have time for lunch between rounds. Our first time was the first time of the day, so I figured we would be fine on time. We were paired with a guy who worked at the course, which I thought would be good for local knowledge. As we played the first few holes, I noticed immediately that the tee boxes were long and shaggy, the greens were soft and slow, and the holes were so beat up that they looked like they hadn't been moved in weeks. Also, there were wet and soggy areas around the greens that were rutted by lawn mowers and were literally unplayable. I asked our employee playing partner about this and he said: "Yeah, this course drains very poorly and wet areas are common. The greens are usually this bad so I just take one putt at the hole and then pick up." We were only on hole 3, but I was already upset. Then we got to the turn. The starter told us that, due to the course letting groups out on both tees in the morning, there were 3 groups we had to wait for so we should go into the clubhouse to wait. Talk about a momentum and score killer! When we did get out, we now had to wait 5-10 minutes between every shot!! Our nice round turned into a 5+ hour affair that resulted in us having to shove our lunches down our throats in 15 minutes to make our afternoon time. When we went out for our afternoon round, it was still ridiculously slow, and now the greens had been covered in sand! This place was an embarrassment to Jack Nicklaus and was not a place you want to waste your money on. I have seen better maintained municipal courses charging a fraction of these rates for better golf. Avoid this course at all costs!!!"
"Just played this course for the first time. Staff was super and very informative. A nice warm up area and the course had a great layout and was in terrific condition. Nice open fairways and not on top of each other. Played at a perfect pace. Would definitely play again!"
