"We used first benefits for approximately one year for our workers compensation policy. Following are a series of issues we encountered. 1: Initially we attempted to use reporting forms - the company failed to supply the correct forms and attempted to place blame in regards for the failure to send the forms on our bookkeeping staff. 2: Communication with the company was poor at best, I would be terrified of the results of a claim using this company as our provider. Employees were rude, dishonest and manipulative. 3: Failure to comply with proper documentation standards within the insurance industry. First benefits performed an annual audit of our payroll in April. The audit was performed by a third party which was informed the audit required completion on the same day as the policy would lapse if not completed. Once the audit was completed first benefits switched our policy to monthly billing. While this would've been acceptable in most cases first benefits failed to notify us of the switch. Approximately one month later, all in the same day we received a late notice, an invoice, and three cancellation notices. All notices and invoices were postmarked on the same day. As the confidence level with the operation was so low we had made it a point to document and record every interaction with the company - including filing all documents or correspondence in a folder. Upon questioning a representative with the company we were told that we had been mailed a notice of the switch and the original invoice. Upon request of the documentation regarding this notice the company was unable provide any documentation aside from a generated letter stating our policy was switched to a monthly billing. No documentation of dates or notes on the account were available. I take a 1 star review quite seriously as a business owner, I would never tarnish the reputation of a business over a simple miscommunication or mistake. However, in this instance I feel it imperative to warn others that this business seems to be nearing a "scam" level operation. It's my recommendation that you look elsewhere for workmans comp coverage."
"Our experience with this company has been nothing short of a nightmare. We cancelled our policy and changed providers at the end of 2016 due to poor service. Despite the policy being cancelled in 2016, First Benefits has continued to send bills, letters, and audit requests for 2+ years! We've spent countless hours dealing with this matter, showing that our account was paid in full, and yet they continue to harass us. Be extremely cautious before doing business with this company!"
