"I had my reservations about taking swim lessons at a residential swimming pool, and it seems my fear of being scammed came true! Showed up 5 minutes before my son's lessons started so we would have plenty of time to change and was meet with a locked door. We tried knocking, ringing the doorbell, and calling the number on the website. No one answered the door and the phone number went straight to a voicemail that wasn't accepting new voicemails. Looked through my email and saw no notice of class cancelation, but looked at my bank statement and saw that the money was withdrawn. I'm not sure if the business is closed for good, but there where mosquitoes everywhere, the house numbers where falling off the building, and spider webs where covering the pool entrance. If you are planning on getting swimming lessons here please ensure the instructor is actually in business and not just go through the website, otherwise you will be out $140. Looking through the 5 star reviews I was very excited about my son learning to swim here. I'm not sure what happened or even if those reviews where real but I am extremely disappointed with my experience with the adventure swim company."
"We showed up for swim classes. Knocked on door and rang bell with no answer. The phone number goes straight to full voice mail. They definitely are not still in business but still taking money for classes!"
"This company seems to be no longer in business but his website is still taking reservations for lessons. I have paid for lessons and cannot get in touch with the owner and am out the money I spent for my two children. He seems to be stealing money from people. He needs to enable his website and deactivate his accounts associated."
"UPDATE 7/11/22: The owner, Mr. Ed, called me to get my daughter into lessons. I was very impressed by his method with her in the pool. She has been in lessons off and on since she was an infant and she made more progress in 1 week than in 4 years. Mr. Ed is great with kids and has a no-nonsense yet gentle way of pushing the kids past their fears in the pool. With regard to swimming lessons, I highly recommend Adventure Swim. However, administratively, it is still difficult to make appointments. I don't blame Mr. Ed, I think he needs someone working with him on that side of things while he's in the pool but he did explain that he's having trouble finding workers: 4 stars for the difficulty on the admistrative side of things. Bottom line for me is that I will continue to work with Mr. Ed because he's great with my daughter. After reading the reviews I was so excited to get my kiddo signed up for this place. The first time I called, I reached the owner who was really nice and told me he didn't have a schedule ready yet due to a labor shortage and would call me back in a few days. A week passed and I hadn't heard back yet so I called, and called, and called. Couldn't reach anyone and couldn't leave a voice mail. So I sent my husband to the actual location because it's not far from his work; he spoke with the owner who gave him the same story he gave me...didn't have the schedule ready but would text me when he did. I did in fact get a text explaining they would have the schedule in a few days. 10 days later (and after I texted a few more times) I finally got a reply that they should have the schedule on the website in a couple days. At this point I'm getting quite frustrated because I passed up lessons at the Y because he gave me the impression two weeks earlier I'd be in a class the next week. Well, I get onto the website to check it out...it looks the same as it did the first time I looked, I have no idea if the schedule was ever updated but I tried to sign up anyway and couldn't figure it out. I reached out to the business for help signing up and never received a reply. I was told this man was a legend around here but give the degree of disorganization in his business I have a hard time believing this."
"Mr. Ed is a fantastic swimming teacher. He taught me to swim 30 years ago and just this past week taught my 6 year old son. He went from frantically paddling maybe 2 feet to confidently swimming 35 feet with his face in the water in just one week! Ed has a great system for quickly getting children confident in the water, and encouraging those who are hesitant (a great quote from him this week when someone said "I don't want to put my head under"-- "you don't have to want to, you just have to do it"). He's firm and has high expectations but cares so much about the kids. My son was so excited about what he was learning and eager to go back every day. Some kids were more nervous, and Ed also offers Parent-Tot classes that I highly recommend for kids that balk at the regular lessons."
