"I too have had a nightmare experience with short term disability. They initially started paying me while I was out of work for my broken foot, and unannounced they just stopped. My normal pay period at work is 2 weeks, so after 2 weeks and no payment, I called to find out what was going on. They said they were waiting on paperwork from my Dr’s office. For an entire week I’ve been calling Guardian and my doctors office trying to figure out what is going on. My doctors office has told me multiple times they’ve sent it, and guardian keeps saying they don’t have it. Basically I’m the only person that seems to be concerned about going broke. I just want to know why the payments ever stopped? My doctor initially wrote me out of work for 10 weeks. I had a follow up appointment, and good news, I’m going back to work after 8 weeks instead. Guardian stopped paying me after 4 weeks. They should’ve been prepared to pay me the full 10, but I’m actually saving them money by taking care of myself and healing 2 weeks faster than expected. Go somewhere else for your short term disability."

"This company is a joke, you pay for short term disability, and they give you the run around about paying you. Having to have multiple copies of the same form filled out after each doctor visit, nevermind being ordered on bed rest. No I have to run 50 miles each way to doctor and now have had to 4 times. Each "customer care rep" tells you something different, checks don't go out or are for a day while they review your claim for 3 weeks, then lie to you on the phone saying it's sent when it is not. Supervisors are a joke here too, talking down to you like garbage. I pray if anyone has this company as insurance you never have to file a claim with them!"
