Reviews of Banfield Pet Hospital
"Can’t say enough good things about Banfield here in Wilmington. My dog has been coming to the vet for 4 years. Grateful for the staff and the cleanliness of the facilities. Wellness plan has been a game changer for us."
"My nephew's dog died and we brought her here. They were so sweet and helpful with everything. It was a sad experience and we are going to miss her. I recommend anyone with pets to take them here. The heart they have for animals is so big."
"The staff was very helpful and informative about my first dog adoption even though I had gotten bad news they made sure I was given all answers to keep my dog healthy. Dr. Hanson spoke very clearly and I appreciated her time as well as staff!"
"The staff at this location are all wonderful! They are such friendly animal lovers and have been so good to my little pups. The Veterinarians take whatever time you need to explain and answer your questions, and they have always been incredibly thorough in caring for my babies. I do have both of my dogs on their monthly plans, and it's honestly been so nice to not show up for shots and have the shock of a bill that's hundreds of dollars at the end. They call me to let me know when my pups are due for something, and they always have room to get my babies in if something is wrong. When you're on the monthly plan, you don't have the cost of a visit itself, even if you have to schedule an unexpected visit for your pet being sick. You just pay for the test used to determine the issue (fecal, etc.) and then your medication if any is needed. They always ask your budget and explain issues that could arise to see what you're comfortable with for your pet's treatment and affordability, so you are never surprised by your bill. When I got my youngest baby, she was incredibly sick. They were so good and tentative to her and helped me with everything I needed to know. My first bill for tests to determine the issues and for all medication was about $130. Soon after, a person who was caring for my pup during the day while I was at work claimed that her dog was sick and got the (contagious) parasite that my dog had... (she knew my pup had the parasite and still insisted to care for her and to just keep the dogs separated). She brought her dog to the vet, NOT Banfield, but another local one in Wilmington, and sent me the $500 bill. The cost for the visit alone was through the roof, and they ran unnecessary tests when she already knew what the parasite was. Needless to say, I told her I wasn't paying for more than the cost of the visit, fecal test, and medicine necessary to treat the parasite, and recommended Banfield in the future. She told me she doesn't believe "Banfield employees know what they are doing", but she sure got taken advantage of by the other vet and even had to wait days for the fecal test to come back before receiving medication to even treat the parasite! My girl is happy and well cared for, and at a MUCH more affordable price. Fecal tests are (generally) read right on the spot, unless more thorough testing is required, then it gets sent out, and medicine is administered on the spot so your pet can immediately receive treatment. I HIGHLY recommend that you start here when looking for a vet, especially for the urgent visit (not emergency, but maybe vomiting or diarrhea), as they will get you in very fast and at a much more affordable cost. Everyone has bad experiences everywhere, keep that in mind, and don't let it keep you from deciding for yourself!"
"Staff and vet were extremely helpful and did a great job taking care of our dog today. He has extreme anxiety going to the vet under normal circumstances but today he also had a wound on his neck that needed taken care of. Vet and vet tech were wonderful with him and took their time. It was obvious that the hospital was extremely busy and they were apologetic about the wait to get us back in a room. We have always had great experience at Banfield. They are a busy office but it’s clear that they really care about taking the best care of each pet from the front staff to the vet techs to the veterinarian."
