Reviews of Abrons Student Health Center
"Emily Spicer was amazing. I have never had someone listen to me and advocate for me as much as she did in one appointment. Highly highly recommend."
"7 years ago that place failed me big time. Took me 5 years to realize that one doctor that almost knew what was wrong, failed to follow her instinct and give me proper treatment and care. Just brushed it off. The psychiatrist was way wrong, he and his off campus psychologist friend both way misdiagnosed me and made me feel like I was crazy(it caused me a lot of issue). I am so happy to know that the issue was never mental health related and that the on campus doctors just weren't educated enough to recognize my autoimmune desease. Because of that place I took longer to seek proper help and get a specialist. I hope it has gotten better now but I am only able to share this now because I finally know. There were nice people working there, though. Everyone was nice. Counselor I had was an amazing lady. I forgot everyone's names. The psychiatrist though, he was convinced I was depressed and suicidal no matter how many times I told him I wasn't at all. Update for him, if he is still there, still not suicidal nor depressed, not even close. Never were. Prescribed me wrong medication as well. No wonder nothing ever changed. I hope things are so much better now and they take students more serious."
"The nurses actually took the time to listen to me and offered way more support than a doctors office I have ever been to before. They made me feel super comfortable and safe which means a lot because going to the doctor can be super scary. I have so much gratitude and love for the student health center. "
"I always had great experiences here during my time at UNCW. Especially with one of the PAs, Melissa Rice. She was a great listener, never judged, and was so empathetic. That’s very hard to find in a provider these days. Rest of the staff was always helpful as well."
"Absolutely God send. Walked in feeling the worst I've felt, vomiting, naseua etc. Got blood drawn, urine tests, medication, a prescription, and other tests done in under 2 hours. Left with a bill barely above 100, which insurance should cover. Great experience, thank you."
