Reviews of milkbread
"The 'beignets' are soft, chewy, and flavorful with the rich milkbread dough fried then topped with a generous sprinkle of powdered sugar. The spicy chicken sandwich had an incredible flavor combination between the sauce, the citrus slaw, and house pickles. Unfortunately the chicken itself was nearly inedible and impossible to bite due to extreme toughness. I think that pounding it a bit may help. The description of crispy is really to designate that it is fried rather than grilled as the delicious sauce negates a crispy texture. It's a fine trade for me though! I'd give the sandwich another try purely because of those flavors. Don't eat it in the car - it's messy in the best of ways."
"First time eating here. Very pleasant staff at the counter. Ordered our grilled chicken sandwiches minus the buns and got fries as our sides. We sat outside under an umbrella. Food was brought out quickly from another very nice staffer. The sandwich comes with melted cheese on top, some lettuce and pickles. Also comes with a small cup of very tasty thousand island style dressing. We weren’t too impressed with our chicken. I did eat all of mine but it just wasn’t great. Seemed a little rubbery. Definitely wasn’t worth the price. Fries were good but seems like most restaurants have good fries. We knew it would be a little pricey due to location, was just hoping the meal would have been a little better."
"Great service, GREAT food, great coffee, beautiful atmosphere. Very impressed by this place and what a great experience we had! I got the little chicken sandwich which was the perfect size for me and the fried cauliflower bites which were AMAZING. I didn’t even need to dip them in anything, though they had a condiment station with lots of options. Great setup for their coffee bar, and the cashier had a great drink recommendation. I was just visiting, so not sure if I’ll be back but if I lived here I totally would come here as much as possible!"
"I visited milkbread for breakfast. I had high expectations of the sister restaurant of kindred. The atmosphere/decor was great with a clean and modern vibe. The menu is diverse and unique. I got a chicken biscuit and my friend got a yogurt bowl. They brought me a fork and knife for the biscuit, which was curious at first, but then I realized the biscuit was quite crumbly. It was also dry/hard which isn't my preference. The chicken was delicious! My friend liked the yogurt bowl but said the flavor profile was more savory than sweet. I also got a dirty chai latte with oat milk which was ok."
"Nice name. Trendy decor. Good restaurant pedigree. However it didn't blow my hair back. Chicken sandwich was good but skip the rest. Having tried both breakfast and dinner here I've tried about half the menu. Initial reaction is overpriced. The cinnamon roll is $7 and it's so rich and sweet it's almost intolerable. The donuts were well-made and seemed to be the most popular order. I really wanted to like the avocado toast but the bread was a little stiff and the seasoning could be dialed back 50%. Nice addition of the soft boiled egg on top--worth the upcharge. The biscuit sandwich was also difficult to eat as it was very tall and fell apart as you bit into it. I'll definitely visit again for a chicken sandwich but will skip breakfast. Bottom line the breakfast offerings just don't seem to nail the value equation for price paid."
