"Dr. Amy Nelson at this office is a very compassionate provider. After being at the Cary office for 8 years, and dealing with lumbar and cervical herniations, I transferred to this office from seeing Humanchu (another very caring and compassionate provider). Amy was welcoming, and listened to my concerns as they change throughout time, with the need for trigger shots, and steroid injections. This pain specialist practice in general at all of their locations are some of the most caring ortho doctors that I've come in contact with, and why I choose to stay in this practice."

"I should've avoided this place when I read the initial reviews from others. I went in for a physical exam from a referral from my provider several weeks ago in order to schedule the pain injection to my SI joint. The doctor indicated there are 2 different injections that can be done to the area (1 of which isn't approved by insurance, so we went with the one that is). Taking that into account we scheduled the injection appointment 2 weeks' out to ensure ample time to everything to be processed. Additionally it was important to get the appointment in before the end of the year since I have hit my out of pocket max for 2023 already. I received a call the day of indicating that insurance had denied the claim due to insufficient information from the doctor, and the out of pocket cost would be $550. When I communicated the information, they indicated I would have to come in for another physical exam so the doctor could resubmit to insurance, and therefore would be unable to get the injection before the end of the year. I then asked if it was possible to pay the out of pocket amount of $550, and then if/when the insurance claim is approved to receive a reimbursement. They responded with no unfortunately once I paid the $550 it would be gone. So not only has several weeks of my time been wasted (looks like the denial happened a week ago), but now that the injection can't happen anywhere before the end of the year Wake Spine and Pain has cost me several hundred dollars regardless of who I go through since I'll have to get it done in 2024. Completely unreasonable responses and timing from them at every corner, and incompetence (and a laziness on completing notes to the insurance provider) from the doctor as well. If I could give 0 stars I would, and this place should be avoided."
