Reviews of SouthLight Healthcare
"This place is horrible. I've been a patient there for over 5 years and my virtial appointment I had today was canceled by Amanda without my knowledge. And I was told I couldn't get my prescription and If I need help to go to the ER. These people don't care about people. DONT GO TO SOUTHLIGHT."
"I've had a great experience here I have been going here since November 2018 and will celebrate 5 years of sobriety coming up on November 11th The program is what you make of it whatever you put into it you'll get out of it. You want to truly get help and get sober they can help you but you have to do the work!"
"It depends on what you're seeking. There is the Opioid Treatment Program for those wishing to use Subutex or methadone to treat dependence on opioids. I find it to be frustrating in its policies and disorganization at times and there seems to be a high turn over for counselors, making it difficult to find and stick with a good one. The nurses are almost to a person friendly and understanding (most of the time). Given they only get two days off every two weeks, they deserve a little compassion themselves. The providers who manage MAT, like Kenneth and Ben (who's been there since the dawn of time and cares for his patients more than any person in the medical field I've ever known), are pretty well-regarded, from what I know and hear about them. Then there's the behavioral health side, confusing of psychiatrists and therapists. You'll likely get in with a doctor to manage your medicines pretty quickly, but last I heard there's a three-month waiting list to get in with a therapist, and that was five months ago. I don't know much about the groups, but there are several offered, which I appreciate. I'm referring to those besides SAIOP, which is, in my opinion, a decently-run program from my experience with it. I suppose that is if you're not required to do it. But they offer three month's rent at an Oxford House if you're in SAIOP, which can be an offer to change one's life if you're living on the street in the throes of drug addiction. Just my opinion. There are other services offered, too, like the walk-in center just to have a place to go drink coffee and intermingle with fellow clients, I guess (tbh I've never been). I've also seen them provide those in need with clothes and shoes. On a final note, things have changed a lot at SouthLight over the years. I've heard that they were bought out, possibly by UNC, accounting for some of the new policies and management styles. The facilities have been upgraded a bit and there's a shinier look to the place in some ways. For better or worse, that varies by the person. Regardless, they offer much-needed services in this time and culture to those who may not otherwise be able to get it. I think there's at least something in that to appreciate."
"This is a great place to go if you need help. Staff is very courteous and helpful. Very fast service. They really seem to care about your sobriety, as well as mental and physical health. I've been going there for a month now and have absolutely no complaints. The only inconvenience is, there is No Smoking on the property. You can smoke at the bus stop at the parking lot entrance. But that's not serious at all. I recommend this place to anyone in need."
"SouthLight is amazing! I have been going here for 4 years now and they saved my life! My Counselor and Doctor are so nice and helpful! Everyone who works here treats me with kindness and makes me feel like I matter, unlike some other places I have been to. Thank you for all that you do and have done for me! I highly recommend!"
