Reviews of Wake Orthopaedics
"Dr. Thompson is awesome. He did great on surgery day explaining everything to us. Post opt has been wonderful knowing our goal to get our son back in shape so he can get back to playing sports."
"After having almost amputated the tip of my finger on a table saw, I was first treated at Wake Med North ER, where they x rayed it then relocated and stitched it back in place. I then had a follow up with Dr. Vining at wake med orthopedic. He examined the x rays, and examined my finger, and explained what should and what could possibly happen. All the time that I was being treated at both facilities, I was shown nothing but respect and concern while being treated with the utmost of professionalism. I would highly recommend both wake med facilities."
"Dr. Nwoko is my doctor. I like him. My complaint is about the system. When you call for help you're told MyChart is the quickest way to get a response. Absolutely untrue! I was in excruciating pain, still am, and needed help yet no one responded. I called and the receptionist said, you have the earliest possible appointment. This was weeks out from when I was calling. Outrageously inappropriate response! Once there was finally a response, it was to go to urgent care. That PA talked about medications, never mentioning carpel tunnel. The meds only kept me drugged and in bed, still with pain. All this prolonged agony for weeks. Finally I wrote in MyChart that somebody needs to help me! That got a visit for an injection last week. It didn't work; surgery is necessary quickly. Somebody needs to care when patients are in this kind of pain or need immediate help! I am very tolerant of pain and not one to panic so this is highly unusual. They've said there a lot of turnover with the receptionists. They need to be trained better. MyChart should be a resource for patients that works. Patients' emails should actually be reviewed. My goal here is to prevent this from happening to other patients in the future. I am recovering from a fractured pelvis as well and all this has been incredibly frustrating. Update: After this review and direct complaints, responses have improved slightly though I'm told the way MyChart messages are read has not. Others, who are uninvolved, read the messages and if they deign them worthy of reaching the recipient, only then might they be received - maybe. I like Dr. Nwoko but this is a very poor system."
"I was referred to this office by wake med hospital. The lady who answered the phone by the name of “Sandy” was extremely condescending, rude, and ignorant. She hung up the phone on me on several occasions just because I kindly asked what the phone number was to the Falls of the Neuse location in North Raleigh. The rudeness all began when she discovered my name was foreign. I felt a super racist vibe from her and I don’t feel comfortable speaking to her again. I also asked if she could transfer me to her manager or supervisor in which she hung up the phone on me again. I’m in extreme pain since being involved in a multi car accident being hit by multiple vehicles going 70 mph+ and I don’t appreciate the level of respect and empathy sandy was giving me. I do not recommend this place."
"I had a 10:30 appointment, I am still sitting here waiting to be seen at 11:36. Absolutely, no one said anything to me like it's ok for a patient to waste over and hour of their life sitting here. I understand things happen, but to be insensitive and not say anything it unfair. I had to get up to ask the receptionist. I was brought to a room to still be sitting here. Absolutely, no one is saying nothing. If I didn't really need to see the doctor I would've left already. I am so mad right now, I could've passed out in this room no one has even checked on me since being placed in here. It is now 11:40. This is down right disrespectful"
