"I am beyond upset with Dr Dudley and South Granville Animal Hospital. I HAD been bringing my 2 furbabies here for many, many years. At first I was taken aback by the very old condition of the office. It tended to not be the cleanest. However, the doctor was amazing and really seemed to care. One of my furbabies had a nail injury and the office let me sit in the room while she was recovering as she had a hard time coming out of anesthesia. The office was obviously closing but they never mentioned it to me and just let us take our time. I appreciated having a trusted vet close by. I did not appreciate that they did not send a prescription request to Chewy for me so I could get their medications easier, but I let that slide because I did like the office. I wanted to put the positive in this review first because I am completely heartbroken at how our patient/doctor relationship has now ended. Our older furbaby had many, many issues and over the past few months we knew we were nearing her time to leave us. I decided to call our trusted vet to help us in her passing. They scheduled a Friday afternoon appointment. We had to wait 2 days but again, I wanted to bring her to this office. The day comes and we do our celebration of life at home with her. We put her in the car and drive to the vet, only to be welcomed to them telling us it was not going to happen. Why? Because the doctor had been sick for 2 days and was not in. This was at 3pm on Friday. I waited in the car while my husband was inside. He came out to tell me this information and then proceeded to tell me the receptionist said they had been trying to call me all day. I quickly check my phone, no record of any call from them. He goes back inside and she tries to call again but it's the WRONG PHONE NUMBER! Are you kidding me? They have the same phone number they have always had and I have never had an issue with them calling me. When the person answering the phone is not the same person you are calling, don't you get the hint?!?!?! So, on one of the saddest days of our life they bungled the entire thing! We left and went home to cry and hug our girl. I then called North Raleigh Mobile Vet and it was a blessing in disguise that this happened. Dr. Shannon Burroughs made it the most beautiful, at home experience. At least we had an outcome that was better than we could have expected. It was however NOT with South Granville Animal Hospital. We will NEVER take an animal here EVER again."
"DO NOT GO HERE! Our hedgehog died here after a traumatic event today. My daughter took her in to see if they were comfortable trimming her nails which they said they were and took her back. She texted me that they were cutting them in the back and within a couple of minutes she walked outside and I immediately noticed something wasn’t right. Her mouth was wide open and she wasn’t balled up like normal. When my daughter got back in the car I told her to take her right back in because her breathing was non existent . She walked in and told them and their first response was “we didn’t do anything to do her” which they repeated multiple times after. I ran inside and asked what happened in shock and the only thing she could tell me with no compassion at all was that the hedgehog was super old and to look at his teeth (as if I could tell ages by looking at teeth) after repeating again that “they didn’t do anything”. She then tried to tell me she was “passing” when we brought her in because her face was discolored which was not at all true. I told her repeatedly that she was totally normal until we brought her in but she just kept saying no look at her teeth or that she was already turning colors to pass. Many red flags spark from this because 1. If you thought she was dying why would you even attempt to cut her nails and 2. Why did you repeat over and over how you didn’t do anything without one single accusation from us first I say all this to say that when they shocked Gibbles by whatever they did to her in a matter of minutes they knew that they had messed up and instead of owning up to it, they sent a dying hedgehog back out to us in hopes that we would just drive away. Then continued to deny any wrongdoing when asked what happened. My daughter also told me that when she went back in the second time the lady was on the phone talking about the hedgehog and how it was stressed out from the event and she had to “deal” with that now. No urgency and probably because she knew she had already caused her death and was on the phone with the owner (another red flag) Please DO NOT take your pets to this place if you want them to come out alive. The lack of empathy and urgency amongst the lies and manipulation to try to say my perfectly happy and very much alive baby was dying when I brought her in to avoid any accountability is unacceptable."
"It amazes me that someone in the business of caring for animals and is responsible for there health, has no customer service skills. Everyone talks about discrimination in the world, but is it not the same if a vet refuses to board your dog because he is nervous and barks during his exam? So he's not good enough to spend the night there, but he's okay to be there during the day as you gladly take our money then. He has been going there for a while, never bit anyone, only shakes and growls if someone invades his space. You are WELL AWARE he was an abused shelter dog and is very protective of his space and owners. He has boarded for the past 3+ years at different locations with no issues at all. Please answer for everyone, why you would turn your back, discriminate against an animal because he's (NOT LIKE THE REST)!! iF YOUR CHILD WENT TO SCHOOL AND PEOPLE DIDN'T LIKE THEM BECAUSE OF THE WAY THEY LOOK, LAUGH, SPEAK, SMELL, HOW WOULD YOU FEEL? You are that person because this is what you have done to an innocent battered dog! Instead of trying to understand and help, you abandoned him! I hope everyone reads this and rethinks where they want to bring there animals."
"You expect that a vets office would have compassion and understanding for animals. This one does not. I equate my experience yesterday with my dog at this office to a parent with a special needs child being shunned by a school or a caregiver. As a person we are taught to be kind and gentle, accept differences in people, be respectful. As a person that should always be true, but as a caregiver especially. There was no patience given. There was 0 effort. I'm happy that I won't be returning to this office. I attached a photo from my dogs daycare that they did on him. This is the dog that "WILL NEVER BOARD HERE". The comments on his report card-"I absolutely LOVE your dog", "he is a sweetheart". I was told that "since his daycare doesn't mind him there, that's where you should bring him". Who knew that a staff of untrained people would be more caring and compassionate than 1 trained individual."
"I wish there was a way to leave 0 stars as 1 star is being too generous. I know every business will never make every person happy, but I was so upset when I left this establishment that I was in tears. My dog has been being seen here for a while and I never really loved coming here, but its close to home and convenient. My husband has told me the 1 time that he had to bring the dog to the vet that he didn't care for the vet here. I have a dog that is not the "norm" of what people expect from a dog. He doesn't like people. He was abused as a pup, probably not socialized enough as he's gotten older. I adopted the dog around 9 months old, saved him from euthanized and he is the sweetest thing ever. With me and my husband that is. He will shake uncontrollably, hyper salivate, growl, snarl and bark everywhere he goes. He has never bit anyone, but we are very cautious that he doesn't. As a vet, I would expect some sort of understanding for his terror and his actions. Recently I booked my dog to board at this establishment (he boards at daycare and is fine with the staff), I called to find out why our order was declined through chewy and that's when I found out that the time I booked to board over a month in advance, that they were closed. This happened on Monday of the same week I'm supposed to leave. Needless to say, I was upset. I spent time on the phone with the staff to set up the boarding. What better place to board a dog than with the vet? The very next day, I bring my dog for a vaccination that had expired and got 0 notifications about and was just there a month prior, I get told that my dog "WILL NEVER BOARD HERE". No one bothered to ask me to bring him in prior to the boarding for a short time to see how he does. I would have been happy to. As my dog is laying on the floor shaking uncontrollably and drooling, has expressed his anal glands, the vet proceeds to tell me that I should just take him somewhere else to board. I did one better, I walked in the door at home and called another vet in the area and got him set up as a new patient. I don't need an attitude from his vet. I do everything in my power and my financial means to care for the dog and will do what I think is best for him. On that note, goodbye South Granville Animal Hospital. You will not got another penny of my money. Oh! I forgot. I find out after I've been paying crazy high prices for meds through them, I was told they would price match Chewy. Nice to know after I've paid for them without that discount for a while now. If you still insist on this clinic for your pet, ask for that discount and I wish you better care than my dog got."
