"I had a great experience for my first labor and delivery. All the nurses were super sweet, caring and knowledgeable in teaching me as a new mom how to navigate my first few days of post partum. I hope they continue giving great care to future moms!"
"I gave birth in July 2022 here. After days of prodromal laboring, getting induced, laboring with broken water for 24hrs, etc, I delivered via C-Section. I was terrified, but everyone in the OR was incredible. My biggest regret is not catching the name of the lady in this picture. She was in the OR room with me and ensured we got so many pics of our son. She brought my son to me. Even though I was too shaky to hold him, she put him right at my face for the sweetest skin to skin time. She was my angel during that scary moment. In the day we were discharged, she came by our room to see us. I had to take a picture with her because is such an important part of our birth story. I’m so grateful for her."
"2 stars because the L&D team was great… for the most part. Everything else kinda sucked. To start I ended up having a c section after a couple days of inducing labor which was fine I knew that was a possibility. However, as I was being prepped in the OR I was able to move my legs and feel a nurse rubbing my feet even after being given 3 doses of “really strong numbing medication” I was very clearly communicating this to the anesthesiologist. The doctors performing the surgery then proceeded to do the pinch test on my belly and I could feel sharp pain from it which I then again communicated to the anesthesiologist who then communicated that to the surgeons. I asked the anesthesiologist when my husband was suppose to come in because it seemed strange that he wasn’t in there already since they were getting ready to start the surgery. He told me if I don’t become numb that I will have to be put under general anesthesia and if that happens no one can be in the room with me. Again after communicating very clearly that I could feel everything still, I hear the surgeons say “make the incision” which they proceeded to do and immediately I was crying and yelling in pain because again I WAS NOT NUMB. Why on earth would you completely ignore the patient telling you they feel sharp pain and cutting me before getting me completely numb. It was probably 10-15 seconds later that I was put to sleep. This whole time my husband was sitting in the hall gowned up waiting to come into the OR when he suddenly hears the cries of our son and was instantly confused and filled with panic and worry because no one came out to tell him what was happening so for several minutes he thought I was dying. Thankfully I was not even close to that but what a terrifying thought to be left having as your wife is in surgery. I woke up as I was being wheeled back into my labor and delivery room where my husband was holding our son. The postpartum unit nurses need to get their act together and if they don’t like being a nurse and cannot be kind to their patients then they should get a different job. I was there 2.5 days after delivery and had 6 different nurses during my stay. I only had 2 kind nurses out of that 6 and the second one was only with us for a couple hours to discharge us. The other nurses treated me like a drug addict (fyi I am not never have been on any drugs- I’ve only ever taken prescribed pain medicine one time in my life and it was for my wisdoms teeth removal) . I was at a. 15/10 pain the whole time I was in the hospital, I was primarily given Motrin and occasionally Roxicodine. Clearly this medication mixture was not working because my pain never went down after each dose and I spent a lot of time crying in pain begging the nurses for anything to help me. Make that pain scale a 25/10 when they pushed on my stomach. I always felt like I was on the verge of throwing up or passing out from the pain. The nurses would aggressively tell me I need to stop asking for medication and get up and walk. It’s pretty impossible to even get out of bed let alone walk around when I’m in excruciating pain just FYI. One day when a midwife came in to check on me she pressed on my stomach which I immediately started sobbing in pain and she seemed very concerned about my pain level (FINALLY someone to help) I literally couldn’t speak in that moment from the pain so my husband explained to her what I was experiencing and she immediately called a nurse to get another dose of pain medication but then left. The nurse never brought the pain medication and when we called the nurses station to ask about it the nurse came back in and told me I need to stop asking for medication and that it’s not time for my next dose yet and did not believe us when we said the midwife said I could have another dose even tho she literally spoke to her on her pager about it. Big lesson here is that the staff at this hospital need to LISTEN TO THEIR PATIENTS!! Do not make them suffer and proceed to treat them poorly for begging for something to help, that is torture not nurturing care."
"About 4 weeks ago I delivered my baby via C-section. All the medical staff there was so amazing! As they prepared me for my surgery they asked me if I had any concerns and I made it clear I was very nervous due to having a traumatic experience with my first csection at another hospital. The surgeon, the anesthesiologist, all the nurses everyone who worked with me all deserve 5 stars! They encouraged me and made me feel calm when I was scared. And the surgery went way better than I could have imagined. I can’t remember everyone’s name but thank you to all the medical staff! My doctor who delivered my baby was Dr.Hays and he did a great job!"
