Reviews of Duke Innovative Pain Therapies at Brier Creek
"Whomever the person is that does scheduling is abysmal. She has ZERO interest in lifting a finger, waits until the end of the day to call people back. I honestly don't know how people get in to see a doctor at this place. If I were a doctor here, I would be very concerned about patients who are being turned away because of your gate keeper. - she won't open the gate!"
"First off, know that you must be referred by another dr to get an appt here. The medical staff is the most dedicated and caring I have found. Life-changing. Drs.Alonso, Putilin, and Buchheit have been wonderful. The PT Katy Walker is wonderfully caring, personable and willing to meet you where you are in your capacities and limitations. Unfortunately, there is a lot of turnover in front desk staff and appt. schedulers and at any given time, they are minimally competent at best. Good luck getting anyone to answer the phone, but don't leave a message bc they will NEVER return it. Also, I was told it would take 2 weeks to determine the cost of a medical device with my insurance, which is a Duke employee plan, the one most choose. Still waiting on that estimate 2 years later."
"Good luck getting into this place. I've been trying for a month now and being told they will call me back, never call back and never been reviewed by doctor to make an appointment. I can't believe this is a Duke facility !!"
"I very much want to give 4.5. I loved this practice so much. I saw at least 3 providers monthly in 2017. I saw them often in 2018. My biggest concern has been the massive staff turnover. When I mentioned a founding team member to my dentist and his assistant, I felt very scolded. I has no idea as a patient why she was gone. Her name was Dana. She was amazing with patients. I was primarily a patient of Dr. Liedtke. He was by far the most incredible, brilliant neurologist I've ever known. It's sad the current crew (desk) has no clue who he is or what he contributed to medical research. There were some pretty odd misses with the staff failing to schedule my appointment in My Chart. I had a booked flight. I called. No appointment after all with Dr. Alonso in October of 21. Then, I did receive a confirmation call. But, nothing works like it used to work. I messaged Dr. Alonso, but unlike the old days nothing was really done although it fell on Duke's error. I did miss due to the massive Kentucky tornado in December of 21. I can return with a referral since I haven't been since late 2020 per staff. Dr. Alonso had been so kind and amazing. I noticed such a shift as the clinic ramped up. Dr. Park left. Dr. Liedtke went to a major research company. Dr. Alonso became less personal. My last treatment caused significant pain. So, I debated returning anyway. It was a trigger point. He was in too big of a hurry. Maybe Duke is pushing productivity. Megan, who used to work with financials, was fantastic. Dr. Putilin had much to offer. But, how I'd do a referral for a mouth guard right now I don't know with my own practice and time issues. Dr. Alonso had told me we have the best for this in Kentucky with Dr. Okeson. I'd seen Dr. Okeson years ago, so I'm scheduled with UK instead of Duke. I had chosen Duke intentionally. The early clinic was amazing and caring. I haven't been as impressed except I had one telehealth with Dr. Putilin during Covid to discuss how it feels to be healed after 12 years of suffering. It was nothing to do with medical care per se. Duke was a bright spot that helped me keep going. I miss the days when the doctors listened and seemed to truly care. I miss the staff that knew patients and families by name. The half star loss would be for the loss of that intentional culture the seemed created for all the right reasons. I will always have a place in my heart for these doctors and that early team who encouraged me. I had seen Dr. Liedtke since 2012. He was right. I healed from the primary condition. It was a long, hard road. I'm grateful for everything that they did in those tough years when they were new and personable and caring!"
"I cannot understand why their rating is so low. This is one of the most caring places I have been to. From the moment I made contact with Justice at the front desk, she went above and absolutely beyond to get me an appointment and has continued to be so refreshingly helpful and caring. On a side note, my husband and I have now made it a little bit of a habit to bring homemade cookies whenever we go to an appointment. Dr. Alonso is one of the best doctors I have had contact with in a very long time. I have been suffering for well over a year and have seen doctor after doctor, many of which blew me off. My first appointment was almost 2 hours and he listened to everything I had to say and did not once dismiss any of my complaints and took everything I said seriously. After over a year of seeing too many doctors, Dr. Alonso made me feel hopeful for the first time in a long time. He gave me a treatment that day to try to help with my pain and after a week when I still felt bad, I sent him an email and he got me in within a week to give me a different treatment that helped immensely. To sum it up, this place has been life saving to me and continues to be there for me. My advice is the give them a try and if you disagree with my assessment, don't go back. But I hope you will be just as happy as I am with the clinic, the staff, and especially the doctors."
