"I've been having severe dry eye issues at night for 6 months. It's gotten so bad that I can't sleep for more than an hour at a time without waking up needing to use drops. I'm so exhausted that I've fallen down the stairs twice. I never sleep. I'm desperate for help. We've had a great experience with our daughter's Duke pediatrician so I made an appointment here for my eyes. The staff was very nice in this office. I had an appointment with Dr Shaw and he was also very nice, but didn't spend more than a few minutes with me and basically told me to use more eye drops and come back in 6 months. He didn't do any tests or than just looking at my eyes and confirming that they are dry and saying maybe it's hormones since I just turned 40. I drove 45 minutes to see a doctor that spent less than 5 minutes with me. That wasn't good enough. So I made an appointment with a different doctor in Raleigh who specializes in dry eyes and it was a night and day difference. This other doctor did several tests on me, asked a ton of questions, explained what's going on, and offered solutions to help me. My tears are evaporating instantly, so even though I'm making enough tears, I'm still suffering from severe dry eyes. I was given steroids to help with the immediate problem in my eyes, different drops that will address my lack of enough lipids in my tears, and he put me on DE3 supplements and is going to see me again in 2 weeks. I'm glad I found another doctor. When you have a patient that tells you that they haven't slept for more than an hour in a row since August and they are scared that they are going to go blind because their eyeballs are sticking to their eyelids and ripping off layers of cells several times a month, maybe offer them more than the suggestion to "use more drops." I hope that the doctor reads this and changes how he approaches this issue in the future. Maybe consider doing more tests, etc."
"If you have an an a cute issue just know your call may not be returned. After waiting a week with no reply and still having pain and concerns I went elsewhere. Each person here had an excuse for why the one before communicated poorly and it made me eyes if I really want someone like that in my ear. No empathy or urgency for such a delicate thing as an ear."
"Hopefully the rest of the staff isn’t as rude as the nurse that pushed me out the way today at alpaca picking up food for Dr.Hodges. She didn’t even bother to apologize until I told her how rude she was. I hope they practice better manners in the office than they do out in public."
"I am sorry I went here... seems like a bit of a factory. I was shamed for not managing my hearing loss the way I was supposed to (apparently you're supposed to just know) and not being able to follow up previously. Wake up people, not everyone can afford healthcare. It's bad enough to have hearing loss earlier than most, but having someone treat you like you're a problem and an annoyance just makes it worse. I can't speak to the actual quality of the testing, maybe it was fine. All I know is if you want some modicum of respect and compassion for a hearing issue, maybe go elsewhere!"
"I have been a patient at this facility for many years and am completely satisfied. Dr. Brad Novey is the best at what he does and all personnel have always been courteous. I do get my glasses prescription filled at another company, but always get my eye exam with Dr. Novey. To get a through exam does take time, so please be patient. Any wait time is definitely worth it!! Audiology Department is also exceptional!!"
