Reviews of Atlantic Spine & Pain
"Worst place to go. It's herd them herd them out. Always over charging, because they don't know how to to bill insurance right. Can't even get paper work right for injections or to have MRI done. When Dr. Duncan joined ECAA , they really ruined the office."
"Several years ago I was diagnosed with Advanced Degenerative Disc Disease and saw several doctors for this condition who treated me with injections and medication with very little success. Though not a fatal disease, it is not curable. Fortunately, however, I was referred by my Primary Care provider to Dr. Catherine Duncan at Atlantic Pain and Spine, and she has accomplished what four other physicians could not. A month ago we moved to a new home, and anticipating the rigors of moving, Dr. Duncan performed a procedure on me which not only got me through the move, and while not totally pain-free, I feel MUCH better than I ever anticipated. Over the past six years, my disc disease has gotten worse, but Dr. Duncan has made it possible for me to be able to walk my dog and do some limited hiking with my son. (She's also helped me accept the reality that, barring a miracle - - which I believe IS possible - - I'll most likely never play basketball again.) Without hesitation, I heartily endorse and recommend Dr. Duncan AND her highly professional and compassionate staff."
"I heard that Dr. Duncan prescribes medication for opioid addiction, so I stopped by the office to ask questions and make an appointment. The two main things I needed to know were if she prescribes methadone FOR OPIOID MAINTENANCE THERAPY and if, given my situation (recent relapse, etc.) she thought she could help me. The receptionist went to ask these questions to Dr. Duncan and came back to tell me yes to both. This was very important because i did not have insurance and would be paying the full cost ($230) out of pocket. On the day of my appointment I gave my payment to the receptionist, took a drug screen, and then sat in the exam room for an hour. When Dr. Duncan finally came in, I went over my entire situation with her. She then told me that she does NOT prescribe methadone for addiction maintenance. I reminded her that i also do suffer from very painful nerve damage in my face and would be interested in trying methadone for it. I explained to her that reception had told me she does do methadone treatment and that she said that she could help me (she had treated me for unrelated conditions several months ago and already knew of my addiction), she became very rude. I asked if she would refund my payment because I had spent the last of my savings on that appointment under the assumption she was willing and able to help me. She stood up, opened the door, and as she walked out said "no, that's the consequence of being a drug addict". I am extremely offended as well as surprised given her excellent reviews. I feel like I have no recourse other than wtiting a negative review here."
"I am a 20 year physical therapist in the Cary, NC area and Dr. Duncan is one of the most thorough, accurate, and compassionate physicians I have had the pleasure of working with. I give her name out to patients, friends, and family all the time, and they have been pleased with her care without exception. She goes above and beyond for her patients. Highly recommend!"
"Dr. Duncan is great! My self and several members of my family have been to her. She does a thorough exam and explains clearly what your options are. She is masterful with her injections and in many cases can give you immediate relief. I will continue to give her name to friends and family!"
