Reviews of Carolina Care Pharmacy
"Pharmacy is slow to fill prescriptions and will not transfer prescriptions. They appear to be understaffed. This company is Atrium’s mail order pharmacy. Atrium self insures their employees. Please note, prescriptions that are sent over in December, when many people have met their deductibles could likely be processed in the New Year when deductibles start over. This company was in no hurry to fill mine with over a week to get it done “because they are short staffed.” However, because they self insure, they benefit financially by slowly filling end of year prescriptions and letting them roll over into the new year when deductibles start over."
"If you are forced to use this “pharmacy” as I am, I’m sorry, there’s nothing you can do. We try to use CVS every time we can but sometimes this company won’t let you. Your medicine takes 4 weeks to arrive, and when it does, the cap is open and pills are everywhere.. so THEN they have to send you a mailer, and you mail that medicine back. When they receive it, your medicine will then get sent back out. Start to finish for one prescription: a little over two months. All of it in the hands or our stellar US Postal Service so what else could go wrong there? Good thing we don’t have mental health issues in this country! (If you don’t have mental health issues before using this company, you will after). Try to call them, they don’t care. This is truly the worst company I’ve ever had the displeasure of having to use and I award them zero points."
"My employer requires us to use this pharmacy for mail order prescriptions. I have two kids in college (out of state) and they have had nothing but trouble getting their maintenance medications filled. First, they don’t mail to the states they go to college in. Then, they have to get an “approval” from someone at Carolina care every time they need a prescription filled. When my kid goes to pick up their prescription at a local pharmacy, it is initially denied. Then they have to step out of line and call someone at Carolina care. If it happens to be after 5pm, you are SOL because no one is there to answer the phone to make the approval! So picking up a prescription is delayed. Last time we ran into this situation (in September), my son called Carolina care and they approved the medicine and said next time you can use the mail order because we will be authorized to mail to your state. Well, next time he needed a refill, it was not approved for the mail order and everything has been delayed. I cannot stand that my employer does not let us have a choice in the pharmacy we use. When they are home from school in summer, the system has been ok. Not great. The prices have been good for their maintenance medicines. That is the only positive thing I can say about it. I have been so frustrated at this system and how it works and that my kids have had multiple delays in getting their prescriptions."
"I work for an emr and specialty is e-prescribing. You do have to abide to your state’s legal age of consent in respect to PHI.. but Carolina’s is still 16. I have no idea how this company is getting around that.. but if you have a choice, do NOT use this company."
"Worst thing my insurance done to my health care is making us use them. They make a meds always late and cause more health problems. They are a joke as a pharmacy and really need to be shut down. And don't understand how insurance raised the price of medicine if you use a real pharmacy to get it filled because it takes 4days are more to get you medicine from Carolina care"
